The Juliet Spell by Douglas Rees

The Juliet Spell

The Juliet Spell

I’m Juliet.

At least, I wanted to be.

So I did something stupid to make it happen.

Well, stupid and wonderful.

I wanted the role of Juliet more than anything. I studied hard. I gave a great reading for it—even with Bobby checking me out the whole time. I deserved the part.

I didn’t get it. So I decided to level the playing field, though I actually might have leveled the whole play. You see, since there aren’t any Success in Getting to Be Juliet in Your High School Play spells, I thought I’d cast the next best—a Fame spell. Good idea, right?

Yeah. Instead of bringing me a little fame, it brought me someone a little famous. Shakespeare. Well, Edmund Shakespeare. William’s younger brother.

Good thing he’s sweet and enthusiastic about helping me with the play...and—ahem—maybe a little bit hot. But he’s from the past. Way past. Cars amaze him—cars! And cell phones? Ugh.

Still, there’s something about him that’s making my eyes go star-crossed....

Will Romeo steal her heart before time steals him away?

The Juliet Spell was not what I expect. I thought it was going to be a fun read, and for most of the book, it was. Then the author took it to some serious drama. Rees brings in some very grown-up problems with relationships. And shows that selfish wants have consequence that cause hurt and pain to others. I also enjoyed the author's historical and quotes notes at the end of the book. It put a realness to Edmund's character, and a nice finishing touch to the story.

Miranda is desperate for the part of Juliet in her high school play of Romeo and Juliet, so she does a little spell to insure her chances of getting it. But she ends up with Shakespeare himself, well, his younger brother Edmund. And to make things even more complicated, Miranda falls in love with Edmund. The romance was fun at first, and I laughed right along with Miranda, but this is not a crush for Miranda, it’s her forever true love. And sometimes love has too high a cost. For Miranda, falling in love is cruel, and she learns the real meaning of love is to give and not take.

Edmund is a beautiful Englishman and I love him, but I did want to do bodily damage to him at first. Miranda has more patience than I would’ve had. Edmund soon comes to his senses and shows he’s a good guy, and at the end, what Edmund says to Drew, just broke my heart and proved what an awesome guy Edmund is.

Miranda and Edmund are definitely a Romeo and Juliet tragic love story. But Douglas Rees does put his on twist to this desperate love story that left me with a smile instead of a broken heart. I highly recommend The Juliet Spell as a must read.

I love, love, love this book! When you read it, you will understand why all the loves. Eve is a beautiful Dystopian story. It’s about firsts, forever, sacrifice, unconditional love, and Eve growing from a naive girl who has believed lies of what she’s been taught, into a young women, who discovers her own truth for herself. And about true friendship. You’ll definitely need tissues when you read this one.

Eve is eighteen, and has lived a secluded life from the outside world. But she’s a strong and courageous girl, and she’s smart, even if she has been taught one way her whole life. She has enough courage to find the truth for herself, when the one person she hates tells her it’s all a lie. I really liked Eve. She’s not a shallow girl. Anna Carey wrote Eve's character perfectly. Caleb is also prefect. I love this gorgeous, sensitive, protective, kind-of-cocky, fun guy. Caleb and Eve are made for each other. Where Eve is naive, Caleb is worldly, and there are a lot of laughs and tears with these two. The love between them is so tender and intimate, also strong and bold.

This is one trilogy I wish I found out about after Anna Carey had written all three books so I could a just read all at one time. That’s how much I didn't want this book to end. The cliffhanger with Eve and Caleb had me in tears. I so love, love, love The Eve Trilogy, and I highly recommend it as a must read!

A Beautiful Dark by Jocelyn Davies

A Beautiful Dark

A Beautiful Dark

On the night of Skye’s seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites—like fire and ice—Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye’s life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move—only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can’t help falling for, and Devin, who she can’t stay away from, the consequences of Skye’s choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine.
A Beautiful Dark is the first book in a captivating trilogy by debut author Jocelyn Davies.

A Beautiful Dark was a totally awesome surprise. It started out with your normal love triangle—good boy, bad boy—but by the time I got to the end, there was nothing normal about this paranormal love triangle or storyline. Jocelyn Davies definitely changed the normal in paranormal love triangles. I kept saying WHAT? WHAT? That couldn't have just happened, but oh yes, Davies did do it. She gives a whole new meaning to the phase "Love you to death" And I was just stunned. Trying to figure out what Davies is going to do in the next book in this series. I honestly don't know. A Beautiful Dark also ends on the most nail-biting cliffhanger. You better believe I'm waiting for this next book.

Skye has just turn seventeenth and weird stuff is starting to happen to her. What’s even weirder is the two new guys that come to her school and into her life. Devin has blue eyes, blond hair, and is mysterious. Asher is dark eyes, black hair, and darkly intriguing. Skye is in the middle of them both, and can't figure out her feelings for Asher or Devin, or what they really want from her. I really did like Skye. She’s strong and true to herself in the way she handled Asher and Devin, and with the choice she made at the end of this first book. Oh, and there is another guy, Ian. He’s been Skye’s long-time friend, and he’s had feelings for Skye for a long time. Ian keeps hoping she’ll return them, but he's still a true friend to Skye. I’ll have to wait and see how this turns out. But I got to tell you, I really do like Ian, and I kinda hope he gets his chance.

I highly recommend A Beautiful Dark as a must read. The ending will totally have you saying WOW! What just happened? I didn't see that coming at all!

Falling Through Glass by Kit Forbes

Falling Through Glass

I fell in love with Falling Through Glass. Kit Forbes has written one amazingly beautiful love story. Kae and Emmi’s romance gave me goose bumps. This is why I read romance! For a few hours, I can be swept away into a fantasy of swooning love, and say, “Aww! That was such a great book.” Kit Forbes, thank you! Falling Through Glass with Kea and Emmi is now one of my favorites love story. Now I have to go face reality and cook dinner lol. But I’ll be taking Kea with me :)

Emmi is nineteen and an independent twenty-first century young lady. But when she gets swept back into 1864 Kyoto, things are a little bit different for a lady. Speaking her mind could be damaging to her heath.

Kea is a gorgeous samurai. And prince Kea is definitely a lady's man, but Emmi has put a little damper on Kea's love life, and changed his nineteenth century "man rules" style. However, in Kea and Emmi’s case, opposites do attract, and it’s hard and fast with these two. Which is understandable if you think about the one hundred and forty year difference between these two. But after Kea and Emmi find each other, they’re not going to let time deny them love.

Falling Through Glass has all the romance I want in a book, plus laughs, tears, and a beautiful ending. I highly recommend it as a must read, and I think dinner can wait. Reading Kea and Emmi’s love story again sounds better to me :)

The Legacy of Kilkenny is a fantastic read. Devyn Dawson has created one amazing urban- fantasy world. The storyline is strong and fresh, with different werewolf packs, vampires, dream walkers, and seers—and that's just the tip of this awesome adventure. The characters are well-developed and full of personality. This is the first book I’ve read where the main boy and girl characters were not in love with each other, but it works. Dawson did beautifully with Pru already being in love with Oakley. I didn't dislike Pru for not returning Abel’s feelings, and you will see why (no spoilers).

Abel is a terrific guy. He’s funny, sincerer, and so loveable. When Abel sees Pru, he knows trouble just walked into his English class. He’s so right, Pru is on a mission to get Abel trained and ready for his destiny. Abel is to become The Great Wolf, and rule over all the werewolf packs. Not bad for a teenage boy who still has his mom take him to school lol. Pru is a beautiful werewolf princess. Her father is the alpha male, so Pru will become an alpha female. It’s her mission to tell Abel he's the The Great Wolf that all the werewolves have been waiting for him to join the packs.

Oakley is a gorgeous guy and werewolf. He’s part of Pru's fathers pack, and also Pru's bodyguard. He helps Pru train Abel for his destiny. Pru and Oakley’s romance is hot. Oakley is hot! :) He’s one lean, mean, sexy werewolf, and I can't wait to see more of him in the next book. But I also want to see more of Parker. He’s a rogue werewolf that’s joined up with Pru's pack and he's the cool mysterious type. I'm definitely wanting to know what this gorgeous werewolf is all about. The hard part is I’m going to have to wait for the next book, but in Parker’s case, it’s well worth the wait. He's yummy ;) Now for Arien. He' the sexy bad boy vampire. I know I'm not supposed to love him, but I do, and Pru’s having a hard time with this herself. Arien’s so sexy and bad till he’s mm mm-good. But he is the enemy. Dawson has built a magnificent urban-fantasy world and amazing characters in The Legacy Series. I highly recommend The Legacy of Kilkenny as a must read.

(MY THOUGHTS)     5  STARS!!!!!
When I first saw the cover, then read the title and summary for The Boyfriend Thief, I said, okay, this is going to be fun and cute. Well, I definitely judged this book wrong. Shana Norris is an amazing author. She’s delivered the most heartfelt and powerful story in what I call the domino effect. When a selfish person chooses their wants or desires over love for others, just one selfish act can tip the domino, hitting the next person, and causes pain, hurt and destruction. And on and on, until one person is strong enough to say NO MORE! Then say yes to healing, giving, and love.

Shana Norris is a brilliant writer. She brings this story to life. Avery, a sixteen-year-old girl, who’s been abandoned and hurt by the one person who you’re supposed to trust in their love for you. Avery thinks she’s strong, has everything in control, and is doing everything right—that she has the prefect plan for life. Then she ends up being Zac’s partner on a school project, and where she thought she had control and truth about her life, Zac shows her another way that brings Avery's walls crumbling down. Zac has the domino effect in his life, too. But this is the beauty of love and the healing it can bring, if they will allow it.

The storyline in The boyfriend Thief is heart-breaking, but strong and beautiful. I was awestruck with Shana Norris’ gift of clarity and depth as she showed Avery and Zac's pain and hurt, and the damage it can do. But also the beauty of healing. I love Avery and Zac’s characters, and their story of love's healing. I highly recommend The Boyfriend Thief as a must read. You will be glad you didn't miss reading this book.

(MY THOUGHTS)         5  STARS!!!!!
Deceiving the Protector is one of the most passionate romances I’ve read this year. Dee Tenorio took me into the heart of romance, and the most amazing paranormal world. The love betweenTate and Lia was breathtaking.

Tate works for the underground. His job is to go after female stray shifters and bring them to Resurrection where they’ll be safe. He’s sent to track down Lia and protect her. Well Lia’s not going to surrender herself to a man, or should I say wolf. This is a blow to Tate's male protecting ego, but Lia has been protected herself from the worst kind of evil, Asher, who’s a killer, and who’s torchered Lia and wants to claim her for himself. Lia’s just the kind of strong-willed woman that’s going to teach Tate she’s his equal.

Tate is just beautiful. The way he wants to protect Lia and win her trust. I love it. Lia’s just as determent to show him she can protect him. These two are made for each other, and their love will save them both. The storyline is amazing. The depth that Dee Tenorio takes you into this world of the wolf shifter and the characters . . . It will blow your mind. I’ve always loved wolf shifter Paranormals with the mating and bonding for life. The passion between Tate and Lia is just beyond beautiful, and when Tate explains the bonding of mates to Lia, that did it for me. Tate was my man lol. I didn't know about this series, so this is the second book in the Resurrection series, but you better believe I’ll be getting the first book Tempting the Enemy. I highly recommend Deceiving the Protector as a must read!

After reading CRUSHED SUGAR, the prequel to SUGAR RUSH, I couldn't wait to get my hands on SUGAR RUSH, the first book in the Ophelia Dawson Chronicles. This is one amazing story Kimber An has created. I’m still trying to get all my emotions together to write this review. The storyline is amazing, and it’s a completely different kind of Paranormal. It pulled me right into the world of newbloods that are cultivating all of the sweet-bloods for their own personal needs, along with the diabecracker, elders, and oldblood revolutionaries.

Kimber An also did amazingly with the characters. Ophelia, Adrian, Bianca, Brandon, and Martin each have their own strong, well-developed personalities. I fell in love with them all. Okay, maybe not Martin, I have another feeling for this Ophelia is a beautiful science geek, who finds all this hard to believe because of her logical science mind. So I love her coming up with alien/human hybrids. But her sister, Bianca, is totally the opposite, and calls it like she sees it—blood-sucking dead guys. These two sisters have a great relationship. Bianca is very protective of Ophelia, even more so when so finds out Ophelia is the sweetblood the newbloods wants.

Adrian is the new guy in school, and Ophelia falls for him after her ex-boyfriend, Martin, turns into a freakin lunatic. Adrian also falls head-over-heels for Ophelia, but he has a few secrets. My heart was torn to pieces right along with Ophelia's for Adrian and I’m so wanting to see how this comes out between them in the next book, SWEET BYTES. Now for Brandon, he’s a shape shifter who's a sweetheart. It broke my heart with what happen to him, and that's all I can say without spoiling it. Trust me, you’ll love Brandon. There was one character missing in this book, Tristan, but he’ll be back in the next book. I’m going to love seeing his part in all of this in SWEET BYTES. I have no doubt Kimber An is going to amaze me just as she already did with this awesome storyline. So I highly recommend SUGAR RUSH as a definite must read. I also recommend you get the prequel, CRUSHED SUGAR, to get more insight into these great characters. Thank you, Kimber An, for this awesome series!

Okay, I'm going to start with this beautiful book cover. When I saw it, the song "I'm too sexy for my shirt" came into my mind ;) And believe me; Calisto’s character in Night Walker is sexy. I fell in love with this dark, charming, gorgeous, and beautiful Spaniard. Calisto's love for Kate sent me on a first class trip to swoon heaven. And swoon Kate, he did.

Calisto has been waiting for Kate for over two centuries. Becoming a Night Walker was the price Calisto paid to be with Tala (Kate) again after the Fraternidid priest had her killed. Calisto would gladly pay any price to be with Tala—to give her the life they should have had. And to get rid of the guilt he carries in his heart for her murder, for loving her. Calisto takes that second chance and becomes a Night Walker after he's told by the Old One Tala will live again. When Calisto meets Kate, he knows it’s his density to be with his soul mate, and this time, he’s not going to make any mistakes in loving and protected her.

Kate’s an independent women who’s had fearful nightmares her whole life. After she meets Calisto, a love she never thought she’d find, her nightmares turns into dreams of love for a man she feels she’s known before, but just can't put a face to him.

I love the way Lisa Kessler had Calisto and Kate committing their self to become one with each other. It sent my heart racing, a million beats per second. I always love it when the author lets the creatures of the night be who they are—dark and sensual—and Lisa Kessler didn't fail me. She did it beautifully. I recommended Night Walker, Calisto and Kate's beautiful story of history repeating itself, as a definite must read!

(MY THOUGHTS)     5  STARS!!!!!
Break Out is wild, funny, and sexy—a fantastic, out of this world read. I don't remember the last time I laughed more at a couple. Rico and Skylar are just as funny as they are sexy. Rico is a great guy. What's not great about a cocky, womanizing, and gorgeous, bad-ass vampire? He's every woman’s dream. A very bad, bad, but good, vampire. But Rico meets his match in Skylar. She’s tough, independent, and a kick-butt, beautiful woman. Skylar is the one woman that might just tame Rico's womanizing ways.

The romance between these two is steamy hot, and humorous. Skylar hire's Rico for a job. Rico’s crew is all women, and their tough. I also liked Tannis. She’s the captain of Rico's space cruiser, and the perfect sidekick. She takes Rico’s ego down few pegs. And she’s one woman that's not dazzled by Rico.

Break Out is full of action, adventure, humor, and hot, sexy romance. It’s romance where you want to laugh instead of cry. The storyline is strong and well-developed, with this new power called the Collective that rules most of the civilized universe. It has all claims to meridian, a rare radioactive element that gives them immortality. You’ll have one wild and sexy adventure on this spaceship with Rico, Skylar and the rest of the crew of Blood Hunter. I recommend Break Out as fantastic, must read!

BREATHE is Jax’ and Sadie’s very own Cinderella story. I fell in love with this modern day fairy tale. This is one novel I truly wished wouldn't have ended. The romance between Jax and Sadie is breathtaking. Abbi Glines can definitely write romance. The Story line and Characters are strong and well developed. Sadie is a beautiful, yet head-strong girl who’s watched her mother make all the wrong choices in her life, and so Sadie is determined to make the right ones. For her, depending on others, especially men, is not going to happen. But when Sadie has to take over her mom’s job, she meets Jax—a gorgeous rock star—and it’s all over for Sadie's vow to love no man. Jax is a gorgeous rich rock star who can have anything he wants… and he wants Sadie, the one thing he can’t. Jax and Sadie’s love for each other had me in swoon-heaven. There was one more character that I fell in love with, Marcus. This beautiful guy had my heart. There’s no doubt Sadie is Jax's heart and their meant to be together, but I would love to see more of Marcus in his own story. He is just an awesome character. Ms. Glines, please write Marcus a happy ending. Breathe is truly an awesome love story with the romance I love. I'm looking forward to reading more of Abbi Glines novels. She has such a beautiful way of writing romance. I'm highly recommend Breathe. Definitely a must read!

But Keva knows the truth about Rife, and she’s waited a thousand years to reunite with him--her reincarnated soul mate, Kai, and to correct the wrong she’s believes she done a thousand years ago that destroyed her people. And she’s waited for the only man she’s ever loved--Kai who's come back as Rife. Enann, who's Kai’s half-brother, has also waited a thousand years to take his revenge on Reva and Kai.
I fell in love with Keva and Rife. Keva is strong-willed, beautiful, and a sexy women. Her strength and endurance—waiting a thousand years for her soul mate to come back to her—had my heart breaking. And Rife is sensitive, sensual, caring, strong and gorgeous. Well, I just fell head-over-heels for him. Misty Evans definitely understands the true meaning of what soul mates are, and she writes it perfectly. The love and steamy romance between Rife and Keva made my heart swoon. The storyline and characters in Soul Survivor are strong, beautiful, and well-developed. This is a book I’ll be reading over and over again. I recommend Soul Survivor as a must read! And a romance you will fall in love with.

Sophie & Carter is about one hundred and four pages. It’s a short read, but it’s a powerful one. There’s no way you will put this book down until the last word. And it’s even longer from your heart to let it rest. I'm still crying as I write this review.

Chelsea Fine has written a beautiful, heart-melting story. She’s an astonishingly talented author. I'm amazed at how strong and beautiful this story is, and can’t wait to see more from this author. Sophie has lived next door to Carter since the third grade, and through the years, they’ve watched each other’s abuse from the windows of their homes. Sophie has watched Carter's father abuse him and his mother, and Carter has watched Sophie take on the responsibly of raising her three siblings because of her mother’s neglect and drug problem. Sophie's porch swing has become their meeting place at the end of day. Their sanctuary, and a place where they draw strength from one another. And where they are able to then leave, whole, to be able to face another day. But something else has been building between them in that swing they’ve shared, and Sophie and Carter have started to realize it. They’re eighteen, and fixing to graduate high school. They’re about to start their own lives. And they’re facing their true feeling for each other.

It’s been a long time since a book has touched my heart like this one has. I will be waiting for Chelsea Fine’s next book, and help me if she writes a three hundred pages book. I'll problem won’t stop crying for a week lol. I highly recommend Sophie & Carter as a must, must read! This is one book you don't want to miss out on!

Tuesday's Child is a Mystery Thriller, with a touch of Paranormal. This read was a little different than what I normally get into, but the beautiful cover pulled me, so I had to read it. I'm so glad I did. Tuesday's Child sent chills up my spine. Sam is a beautiful, twenty-eight-year-old woman, who works for a veterinarian hospital. She would rather be around animals than people since she’s psychic. Sam's psychic gifts are more of a curse than a gift as she feels what her victims feel. And she not only sees violence, but experiences it, too. This is how she meets the one man who will be strong enough to love her. Detective Brandt Sutherland, who’s been chasing a sick, sadistic serial killer for ten years. Sam goes to the police to tell them about her visions, even if this could make her a suspect.Brandt is ready to take any kind of help he can get to catch the serial killer. He just wasn't ready to lose his heart in the process. The storyline is strong and well-developed. Dale Mayer did a fantastic job. Being inside the mind of a serial killer can’t be easy, but she did so amazingly, and scared me with how well she did this. lol. The romance between Sam and Brandt is beautiful. The way Brandt wants Sam to laugh and feel loved in her live after all she’s ever known is torment, truly made my heart pound. Tuesday's Child will also touch the hearts of animal lovers with one special German Shepherd named Soldier. He becomes women’s best friend. Tuesday's Child will have you shivering in this thriller. I recommend it as a must read!

What came to mind, as I read Of Light and Darkness, was that the two leading characters—Valek and Charlotte—kicked Bella and Edward’s butt lol! When I think of a human teenage girl in love with a vampire, this is the way it would be for me: dark, wicked, and very sensual. Charlotte and Valek was all that and more, I want more of these two. I love a vampire that does what a vampire is supposed to do. Thank you, Shayne Leighton, for writing Valek’s character how a vampire should really be in a Paranormal Romance.

I really loved the modern paranormal fantasy storyline, where the Elves are the Central European Light Magic Regime. They rule the secret occult worlds, and it takes only one drunk Vampire of the darkness to piss them off. Oh yes, that would be my gorgeous vampire Valek. But on that same night Valek finds Charlotte, who he takes home to raise. This all happen about twenty years before, and Charlotte has grown into a woman and her feelings for Valek are changing. I really liked Charlotte. She’s strong-willed, but a little na├»ve. She keeps pushing Valek on his rules, because she knows she loves him. It takes Valek a while to admit to himself that he’s falling in love with Charlotte. When the blinders finely come off, these two definitely get their romance on. I love this dark romance between Charlotte and Valek.  But there’s also Aiden, who’s an Elf. He’s had plans for "his" Charlotte for a long time, and has waited patiently, wanting her, and now it’s time to take what he wants. Aiden is one sick, sadistic, power-hungry guy. And Charlotte is his way to get it. I’m in love with Of Light and Darkness and will be anxiously waiting the next book in this series. I highly recommend this story as a must read!  Good bye Bella and Edward lol!
