Deadly Pursuit (Blood Hunter #2) by Nina Croft

Deadly Pursuit (Blood Hunter, #2)

             Deadly Pursuit (Blood Hunter #2)

Breaking assassin Jonathon Decker out of a maximum security prison on Trakis One seemed like a good idea at the time. Now, pursued across space by the two most powerful factions in the universe, the crew of El Cazador are having second thoughts. They'd like to give him back. Unfortunately, that no longer seems an option.

Jon is used to working alone. Now, he's stuck on the space cruiser El Cazador until he can work out just what he's supposed to know that puts him on everybody's most-wanted-dead list. He s not happy that the crew includes a runaway priestess with designs on his virtue such as it is. Jon likes women, but he gave up the role of protector a long time ago, and Alexia, High Priestess of the Church of Everlasting Life, is an accident waiting to happen.

After twenty-four excruciatingly boring years of doing her duty, Alex is finally having some fun. She never meant to run away it was a rash impulse and she means to go back eventually. But first, she's going to squeeze enough excitement out of the situation to last her a lifetime. And what could be more exciting than a stunningly gorgeous werewolf?

Meanwhile, the Church are chasing their missing priestess, and the Collective are pursuing their escaped assassin. Being hunted has never been more deadly...or more fun.

Deadly Pursuit is Nina Croft’s second novel in her Blood Hunter series and it’s fantastic. I love Nina Croft’s writing. She is an awesome writer. Croft has the prefect balance of action, drama, and romance that creates the most can't-put-this-book-down-until-the-last-page feeling. I also loved every one of these characters in this series, and they’re all back in this second novel with one new addition of Jon. A gorgeous werewolf that they rescue from prison at the ending of the first book Break Out. Where the romance between Rico and Skylar in Break Out was humorous and fun, and had me rolling with laugher, Jon and Alexia’s love had my heart breaking for the hard loner Jon.

Alexia had everybody fooled as the cabin boy, Al. She’s been hiding out on the blood hunter from the church so she could live a little before she has to return as the High Priestess. Well, that was her plan until a gorgeous werewolf came on broad the blood hunter, and then she wanted one more thing she hadn't got to experience as a High Priestess. Jon’s not interested in what Alex's wants or needs. But you know what they say about the tougher a man is, the harder they fall. Alex, at five foot, is going to bring this six foot werewolf down to her level and melt that cold heart he hides behind.

I love the way Nina Croft brings all the characters into the romance between Jon and Alex, and where these two are so serious. Rico with his cocky self always brings out the fun in serious situation. This is one awesome series. I highly recommend Deadly Pursuit as a must read, and if you haven't read Break Out yet, then I recommend you do. Nina Croft's Blood Hunter series is one you don't want to miss out on reading.

(MY THOUGHTS)       5   HEARTS!!!!!
Hushed is an intense thriller. Kelley York has penned a work of fiction that made me question my own conscience and beliefs of right and wrong. York definitely took me into the mind of an eighteen year old guy that was no doubt damaged. At the age of twelve, Archer couldn't protect the girl he loved from a horribly abusive situation, and he blames himself. He’s held onto the pain and guilt for seven years because of it. Kelley York also shows how everyone has free will to choose. You can let abuse destroy your life, or you can heal and move past it. York has written an awesome thriller that will send chills down your spine.

Archer and Vivian have been best friends since they were in grade school, but Archer wants more than friendship. Archer wants Vivian to be in love with him the way he loves her. But what happens to Vivian when they’re twelve has Archer believing he needs make things right, so Vivian can be free to be the person she used to be. When Archer meets Evan, he sees life differently—becomes more of the person he really wants to be, and not the monster he lost himself to. Vivian doesn't like Evan coming between her relationship with Archer, and for the first time in seven years, Archer finally sees who he is, and who he is to Vivian.

Hushed is twisted, chilling and a heart-melting thriller and I'm still torn up about Archer, but Hushed is awesome and the ending will have you in tears. I highly recommend Hushed as a must read. Just be ready for the shiver going down your spine when you read it.

(MY THOUGHTS)         5  HEARTS!!!!!

Existence is a winner. Abbi Glines has proven she can also write YA Paranormal Romance as awesomely as her YA Contemporary. I was a little worried if Glines could write a paranormal as fantastic as her contemporary but, man oh man, no more worries, she blew me away with Existence. The storyline is totally amazing and all the characters are well developed and pulled me right into this supernatural world quickly. Pagan and Dank are fantastic together. Abbi Glines has a gift for the romance, and with Pagan and Dank, she delivers a deep, heart-felt love that had my heart aching for them and their forbidden love. I also went head-over-heels for Leif. I always seem to fall for the wrong guy. I would love to say more on Leif, but it would just spoil the book, so I'll have to wait for the next book in the Existence series to release, then I will let all my feelings out about him.

Pagan Moore is seventeen and has never been interested in guys, especially not Leif, who is the quarterback for their school, Habor High. But when Pagan has to tutor this gorgeous jock, she finds out she’s been all wrong about Leif . . . Or has she? Pagan and Leif’s relationship opens the door for Dank to come into Pagan’s life.

Pagan has seen wandering souls ever since she was born. She always just ignored them and they would go away, but when a blue eyed, dark haired, beyond gorgeous guy’s soul talks to her, it gets her attention. Because soul don't talk. Dank is different, and Pagan falls hard for him. The only problem? This love could be the kind till death-do-us-part.

Existence is awesome, and Abbi Glines has left me hanging on the edge with one heck of a cant-wait-to-find-out cliffhanger. I'm definitely ready to get my hands on the next book in this series. I highly recommend Existence as a must read.

 (MY THOUGHTS)      5  HEARTS!!!!!
Bone Dressing is a fantastic mind trip. Michelle I. Brooks’ writing is totally amazing. The way Brooks took me into the dark mind of this seventeen-year-old girl was creepy awesome. I felt like I was holding my breath reading Bone Dressing, and just when I thought Brooks would let me come up for air, she wouldn't let me do it no . . . no. Not yet. Brooks did give me a lot of fun in Bone Dressing. Along with the dark side, I found myself laughing. I love sarcasm, and Sydney’s character was full of it. Syd’s mouth just wouldn't stop. You think okay, that’s all she can possibly have. But no, Syd just kept it rolling out. I loved it. Michelle Brooks has definitely created a fantastically creepy novel with Syd, whose mind delves into the dark side, and who takes on the sadistic evil of the bone dressing world she lives in.

Syd is one bad-ass girl. She hasn’t had a pretty life and it’s not going to get any prettier when she meets Beau, Sarah, and T.J. Matter-of-fact, it just becomes a whole lot darker. But she starts to understand who she is (or was) and her fight in this dark, sadistic world of hers. That fight will involve a very evil, sick person who has taken Syd's life and everything she loves. Beau will become her balance, and I can't wait to see how all this comes together with Syd and Beau in the next books.

Beau is made for Syd. He can take all Syd's sarcasm and keep on standing, and even dish a little of it back.
I love Beau's character. He's cocky, yet strong. Syd can lean on him, and he’s definitely strong enough to hold her. But it’s Beau's eyes that pull you deep into him. Beau still has a little bit of a mystery to him, and I'm going to have to wait find out all his deep, dark secrets in the next books, but I have the feeling I'm going to love every one of them.

Bone Dressing is one dark and intriguing look into the mind of Syd's wickedly evil world and her fight for her own life and the ones she loves. I highly recommend Bone Dressing as one awesome, sadistic, and addictive read.

A Vampire for Christmas (Sweetblood#2.5) by Laurie London, Michele Hauf, Caridad Pineiro, Alexis Morgan

Mass Market Paperback, 384 pages
Published October 18th 2011 by Harlequin

 (MY THOUGHTS)       4  HEARTS!!!!
A Vampire for Christmas is warming up the holidays with four lonely vampires looking for some Christmas romance, and the everlasting gift of love. Laurie London brings a little Christmas cheer with her Sweetblood’s series. Charlotte and Trace’s romance came to an end last Christmas when Trace new he would be taking his place on the Council seat. But Charlotte and Trace's paths cross again this Christmas, and Trace finds it a little harder to resist Charlotte's love the second time. I loved and enjoyed reading the Sweetblood series, and Laurie London delivers the same passion in this short story as she does in her novels.

The second short story is Monsters Don't Do Christmas by Michele Hauf : Daniel was turned last Christmas and so Christmas spirit is not what he's looking for now. Daniel wants blood and some sexy fun along with it. Olivia’s looking for a lot more. She wants some danger in her life along with a guy that she can love. Olivia chose a career that leaves her unable to live a normal life. So when she meets Daniel, who is a vampire, she feels she’s found her perfect match in love. It will take Olivia giving Daniel the gift of true love to put the Christmas spirit back into Daniel's cold heart.

The third story is When Herald Angels Sing by Caridad Pineiro : This vampire needs a wake up call in his life, and who better to show Damien the errors of ways than his own Guardian angel, Angelina. Angelina’s mission is to show Damien the right path, and that even vampires are in need of soul saving. With Angelina failing her mission, this third time will be her last. So Angelina will use the scrooge lesson of showing Damien his past and present with hopes for both their future Christmas to be one that saves Damien and their love for each other. Pineiro gives her own steamy touch with her version of Scrooge. I have to say I liked this romance version a lot more.

The fourth is All I Want for Christmas by Alexis Morgan. This one I really liked a lot. Eagan is a loner and he works as an undercover cop. A case he’s working on brings him to Della's Diner. But Eagan wasn't ready for the warm-hearted and giving woman, Della to mess with his vampire loner ways. Eagan and Della truly are what Christmas is about—the love of giving and receiving. And a little bit of steamy romance.

A Vampire for Christmas will definitely have you dreaming of a "Steamy Christmas" and it’s a great read no matter what the season. I recommend A Vampire for Christmas as one Christmas pleasure you will want to find under the tree this year. Merry Christmas to all and a "steamy" good night! ;)

Wanderlove by Belle Malory

Wanderlove was a fantastic surprise. I tend to judge books by their covers (as I think we all do) so I thought this would be a cute, sweet read. Well, Wanderlove is one you don't judge by its cute cover. Belle Malory has definitely penned a mature, strong storyline. Like I said, Wanderlove is not to be judged by its sweet looking cover. Belle Malory has created an amazing story that kept my eyes glued to the pages with these gypsies living life over and over again. I also enjoyed all the characters in Wanderlove. The main character, Lola, was strong, bouncy, and true to herself and to her feelings. Malory’s writing is exciting and intriguing. She has written an amazingly deep storyline and pulled it all together beautifully.

Lola is a gypsy, and her life in this gypsy world is totally different from the normal world. Fathers have the right to sell their daughters to the highest bidder. This could mean marriage, or to a madam, or whoever brings the most money. When Lola's father sells her to a madam, that’s it for Lola, she can't take any more. So she runs away and abandons her gypsy life, which is the worst thing you can do in the gypsy's world.

Lola ends up at her grandmother's house where she meets Gabe. A twenty-two year old guy that is making her feel things for him she doesn’t understand. Especially when Gabe is engaged to her cousin, Annika. Lola was cursed to not remember who she was in her past lives, unlike other gypsies who can remember their past lives, but love has its own power. And soon Lola will know what these feelings for Gabe means, and why love for her is a curse for death.

Wanderlove is an intruding, fun, and the romance and drama between Lola and Gabe had me begging for their love to win after repeated lifetimes of defeat. I recommend Wanderlove as fantastic read.

(MY THOUGHTS)       3  HEARTS!!!
Between Worlds: Nekkel Ace is one those books I have mixed feeling about. Yianna Yiannacou no doubt has a unique storyline going on here with this distant planet, Caledonia, where Sophia lives. The characters were well developed and interesting enough, but I had a problem with the main character. I just couldn’t connect all the way with Sophia. The other problem I had was the author tells me the story instead of showing me. I know we all have our own preferences, but mine is to be shown. If the author would have done that for me and left out some things that I just couldn't see the point of having in the story, this would have been a fantastic book for me.

Sophia lives on a planet called Caledonia, but it’s her dream to go to Earth. When her father ends up very sick, she believes there has to be a way to heal him. Sophia talks to a family doctor friend and he tells her of Nekkel Ace, which heals anything, but is only found on Earth. This leads Sophia to find the portal to Earth that her father has forbidden her to ever use. Sophia is determined to save her father, so off to Earth she goes. But when she gets there, she meets Joshua, who she falls in love with. He sidetracks her from her purpose. And that was to find the Nekkel Ace for her father.

Between Worlds has a great storyline, but there is so many things I think the author should have left out that just confuse the story. I think younger YA will probably enjoy this book, but with older teens and adults would see some inconsistencies. I recommend this as a good read. I also love the beautiful cover.

 (MY THOUGHTS)    5  HEARTS !!!!!
Amongst the Ruins is my new book love. Saewod Tice has written an incredibly awesome Dystopian. It’s a beautiful love story, with struggles of a young girl growing up in world where men claim women as property to repopulate the earth. Tice put so much depth into her characters, and this dystopian storyline, that I felt like I was right there with Shilo, living and feeling everything she felt in this future world. You better believe I will be begging Saewod Tice for the second book in the The Chronicles of 2020 series.

Shilo is a rare girl in this world where men possess females as property. With blond hair, blue eyes, and pale skin, Shilo’s beauty would be a man's most prize possession. So Shiolo's mother, brother Adley and sister Mazy, has keep her hidden from the men in this world who take what they want. The group of people Shilo and her family are with are attacked by the Nigredo clan, which
cause them to run into the Magnus clan territory. But this turns out to be good for Shilo. She grows into independent women here under General Vahn, who is a good man and the leader of a training camp for young boys and men. This becomes a place where Shilo and her family are safe. For the first time in Shilo life, she’s allowed to be who she is. No more hiding and she’s also the first girl to be trained to fight. Magnus clan will also become the place that she learns of men and their desire for her. Haden, who lusts for her, Elrik who wants to own her body and Kain who loves her with all his heart and she’s the meaning of his life. Shilo has no desire for men. She watched her mother and sister surrender their body's for the protection of their family for years, and she is determined no man will claim her body as a piece of property.

Shilo and Kain's romance had me laughing, screaming, swooning, and crying. These two are so stubbornly hard-headed. By the time Shilo did understand her feelings for Kain, it was a little too late and the worst thing that could happen, happens with them. Yes my heart is still hurting for these two. But Elrik will use this situation to finally get what he’s been wanting for a long time: Shilo. But I just wonder if Haden’s going to show back up in the second book. I will just have to wait on this one. It could go a lot of different ways.

I love Amongst the Ruins. Saewod Tice has built a fantastic dystopian world with awesome characters and amazing romance that had my heart in love right along with Shilo and Kain. I will have a very inpatient wait for the second book in this series. I highly recommend Amongst the Ruins as a must, must read.

Desired is a beautiful Historical Romance. Nicola Cornick penned a heart-melting love story that's captivating. Cornick created a fantastic historical world. The storyline will take you into a world of radicals, abuse, healing and so much more. Teresa and Owen's love had me laughing and crying.

Teresa (Tess) is a woman who has been abused and damaged, and with three marriages, Tess is the gossip of the town. So marriage number four is not what she’s looking for. But when she finds herself in a situation where marriage is the only answer—for a woman in the eighteenth century—Tess set her sights on Lord Owen Rothury. After hearing about his war injury, Owen was the perfect man for this marriage of convenience. Owen is also an investigator of the home office who’s looking for the radicals. And Tess is a part of the radical reform. Tess figures she can protect her stepdaughter and herself through this marriage. Tess is a strong women who never gives up her control, especially in this world where men abuse and control women.

Owen is man who has made a promise to himself to protect women after he failed to help a woman when he was younger. So it’s not hard for Owen to be convinced by Tess to marry her in order to protect her stepdaughter. What started out as a marriage of convenience for Owen and Tess will become their heart’s desire.

Desired will capture your heart with Tess and Owen’s romance, and a storyline that’s filled with drama, humor, suspense, but most of all, the desire for love. A love that will heal broken hearts. I recommend Desired as a must read.

 (MY THOUGHTS)     4   HEARTS!!!!
Shattered Dreams drove me crazy. I do believe that that was Ellie James’ intentions, and she succeeded in this twisted storyline. I feel like I just got off the for insane people roller coaster ride. I don't know if I love this book or need a bottle of Xanax. I guess I will go with love because it did make me feel every one of my emotions. Even though most were frustrating. By the time I finished Shattered Dreams and understood the whole story, I can say yes I like this book. But boy, in the middle of reading this story I felt like locking the main character up and throwing away the key. So I have to hand it to Ellie James, I feel like I know how Trinity was feeling and what Ellis James was wanting me to understand about Trinity in this storyline and she definitely achieved it with me.

Trinity is sixteen, and her grandmother has died, so she goes to live with her aunt Sara in New Orleans. This is her first time going to public high school as her grandmother home schooled Trinity in order to protect her from people finding out about her visions. It’s not until she goes to live with her aunt that she starts to learn who her mom and dad were, and that she inherited her mom's gift of vision. When Jessica goes missing, she’s not sure if she should help. She’s been told to hide her gift.  Chase is the gorgeous blue eyed quarterback that she’s fallen for, but she keeps pushing him away. She feels like once he finds out about her visions, she will become a freak to him and break her heart. Trinity drove me crazy with hot and cold feelings for Chase, and I had a hard time understanding her reasoning when Chase already knew a little about her visions. I think their relationship could have been done better. Tell you the truth, I like Dylan’s character a lot more than Chase I would have liked to seen Trinity end up with Dylan, who already knew everything and his character had more strength to me even if he didn’t come into the story until halfway through.

I would recommend Shattered Dreams as a must read. I will say you need to definitely put yourself in Trinity’s place to understand how she’s been raised and where she’s coming from. Which I believe Ellie James accomplished this for me. I know I felt as crazy as Trinity.

(MY THOUGHTS)       5  HEARTS!!!!!
The Pledge is an intensely fantastic suspense ride. Kimberly Derting gave these characters so many intriguing secrets I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find them all out. I also love the ending in The Pledge. Just when I thought, okay, this is good; everything works out everybody’s happy . . . BAM! Derting throws an evil twist, and there’s one more secret, no happily ever after. Yet. I also like that this was Queendom. Yeah, that was a differences I really enjoyed after reading about kingdoms. The other thing I enjoyed about The Pledge was the characters and there are a lot of them and everyone had their secrets. I love it and them.

Charlie (Charlaina) is seventeen, and lives in a prejudiced world and freedom is something she longs for. Charlie is also a Vendor and her language is Englaise. A Vendor does not look into the eyes of a Counsel who speaks Termani. If you do it, will be your last mistake. Charlie and her younger sister, Angelina, has a secret they have to keep, but the secret she’s been keeping leads her to a bigger secret she didn't even know, and when she meets Max and his secret that leads to Xander . . . and his, and on and on its goes. I loved it. Like I said, intriguing finding out what everyone is hiding

Max is a solder of the queen’s army in Ludania, and when he meets Charlie, he's intrigued with her and can't stay away. Max knew he was in trouble when he met Charlie, and one problem was him falling in love with her. A love that he would pledge his life for to keep Charlie's secret and to protect and save her.

The Pledge is an awesome read. It’s a world of today mixed with historical and plenty of suspense and terrific characters who all have their little secrets to be found out. The Pledge is one secret I'm not keeping to myself. I highly recommend it as a must read :)

(MY THOUGHTS)      5  HEARTS!!!!!
The Predicteds definitely had me biting my fingernails in this intense Science Fiction mystery. Christine Seifert has created a world where you are guilty until proven innocent. The teenagers in Quiet High are being Profiled to predict who will be a murder, thief, drug addict, or just a loser. And if you knew the person sitting next to you in school, or the guy you fall in love with, is going to be a killer, would you trust your heart? Or would you trust the technology of science? Christine Seifert definitely doesn't sugar-coat this story. I'm so glad that Seifert didn't hold back with these good and bad teenagers.

Daphne and her mom has just move to the small town of Quiet. Daphne has no ideal she just started school as a lab rat in experimental program. And she has her doubts about the Profile program, until she finds herself in situations that make her judge the one person she thought she could trust according to a piece of paper.

Jesse has secrets, and his good and dark side is confusing to Daphne. She wants answers, answers
Daphne’s not getting from Jesse. Jesse just wants Daphne to believe in him, but with Jesse still having a close relationship with his ex-girlfriend, one that's just a little too close for Daphne to trust that nothing is going on between them, and the rumors she hears about him around school with yet another ex-girlfriend, trusting her heart is going to be hard. Especially when a piece of paper says Jesse is a Predicted and what Jesse is predicted to become. Love might not be enough for what Daphne fears could be the truth about Jesse.

I could not put The Predicteds down. I had to find out the truth of the mystery of the predicted. I recommend The Predicteds as a must read. This Science Fiction could be our future sooner than we think.

 (MY THOUGHTS)     5  HEARTS!!!!!
Fate Fixed reminded me of why I love to read Paranormal. Vampires and werewolves. Bonnie Erina Wheeler has taken me back to my first love—vampires and werewolves. Wheeler’s writing and the storyline in Fate Fixed is awesome. I fell in love with all the characters. The vampires are Braden, Torin, Cian, and Teagan, and the werewolves are Maxin, Alik, and Nicolai. But in this first book of the Erris Coven Series its Torin and Lexie's story and the vampires are the good guys. And boy are they ever good. Dang these vamps are hot! And so is their romance, which is called Fate-partner, a forever love—a love that is fixed by fate for eternity. I love Fate Fixed and I'm so glad there’s going to be four more books in the Erris Coven Series.

Lexie is eighteen and she’s been having dreams of a guy for the past year after her father's death. Lexie wants her mother to be happy again. Lexie's mother meets and marries Dragos, who has three sons of his own, and wants to move Lexie and Her sister Ella and mother to Maine so they can have a new start as a family. Lexie goes along with it for her mother, even though Lexie feels something is wrong with her new step-father and brothers. This is where Lexie meets the boy of her dreams, Torin, who has also been having dreams of Lexie for the past year.

Torin is eighteen and also a Damphy. And for Damphys, they dream to know the girl who will be their fate-partner; she’s the only one who can love him for what he is. And Lexie is Torin's love for eternity. But there’s someone else who's laid claim to Lexie, and he's not going to be nice about taking what he wants.

Fate Fixed is no Twilight. Most definitely not. That’s why I love it so much. Bonnie Erina Wheeler has created an awesome story where vampires and werewolves don't play nice when it comes to the girl they love. I can't wait for next book Blood Twist. I highly recommend Fate Fixed as a must read.
