Hallowed (Unearthly, #2)

           Hallowed (Unearthly #2)

For months part-angel Clara Gardner trained to face the raging forest fire from her visions and rescue the alluring and mysterious Christian Prescott from the blaze. But nothing could prepare her for the fateful decisions she would be forced to make that day, or the startling revelation that her purpose—the task she was put on earth to accomplish—is not as straightforward as she thought. Now, torn between her increasingly complicated feelings for Christian and her love for her boyfriend, Tucker, Clara struggles to make sense of what she was supposed to do the day of the fire. And, as she is drawn further into the world of part angels and the growing conflict between White Wings and Black Wings, Clara learns of the terrifying new reality that she must face: Someone close to her will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.

Described by Richelle Mead as “utterly captivating,” Unearthly received outstanding reviews, garnered accolades from New York Times bestselling authors, and was named an Indie Next Pick. In this heart-wrenching sequel, Cynthia Hand expertly captures the all-consuming joy of first love—and the agony of loss. This beautifully woven tale will appeal to fans of Lauren Kate, Becca Fitzpatrick, and Aprilynne Pike.

In the first book of the Unearthly series, Cynthia Hand took me on the greatest, most hilarious romance adventure with Clara and Tucker. I was rolling in laugher with Clara and Tucker in the first book. But Cynthia Hand has proven she can also break your heart. As hard as she had me laughing in the first book, she had me crying just as hard in Hallowed. Cynthia Hand is an awesome writer. I don't know how else to say it. She has delivered such an amazing series. Hand took me from holding my side till I thought I couldn't laugh anymore in Unearthly, to begging no more heart break I don't have any more tears to cry in Hallowed.

Clara is going to go through a lot in her senior year, with love, family, her future, even who she really is. Every one of these are going to bring heart break for her. Clara will have to grow up and face things she doesn’t want to face, and truths that she doesn’t want to see. Truth with Tucker, Christian, her brother Jeffrey, and her dad. What Clara gained in her life in Unearthly she loses it all in Hallowed.

Tucker and Christian's love for Clara will come to be known more clearly for Clara in this book. One who loves her and one who needs her. I love Tucker, but Christian is showing more of who he is in this book. I honestly don't know who I love more, my heart was breaking for Christian in Hallowed. Both these guys at this point has my heart breaking for them. Clara will have to make a choice she doesn't want to make. What was so clear for her in Unearthly will now become a choice between her heart or her purpose in Hallowed.

Hallowed is definitely a must read. I wish I had the insight to Cynthia Hand's mind I'm going to have a hard time waiting for the next book in the Unearthly series. The first book Unearthly was lots of fun and laughs, Hallowed is definitely for breaking your heart. I highly recommend Hallowed as a must, must read.
