 (MY THOUGHTS)     5  HEARTS!!!!!
Darker Still is definitely a Halloween treat. Leanna Renee Hieber has taken from the story of Dorian Gray and penned her own wicked tale, and believe me, the only similarity is the picture frame. Hieber’s Darker Still is way more dark and twisted and spine tinkling. Darker Still screamed eerie, spooky suspense from the first page and its claws dug into me and didn't let go.

Natalie Stewart has not spoken a word since her mother died in front of her at the age of four. But words are not what draws seventeen-year-old Natalie to a painting in her father's art museum. It's the portrait of a gorgeous face. The face of Lord Denbury with the most beautiful blue eyes that calls to her. Natalie needs to know the mystery of this man Lord Jonathon Denbury. And with the help of Evelyn Northe who's a Spiritualist, Natalie will be the only one who can stand up against the dark powers of Hell and set the man she loves free. But that's where the real mystery comes in. How free are Natalie and Jonathon from this hell's dark Society?

Natalie isn't the only one who fell in love with this gorgeous blue eyed and dashing, black-haired Lord. I did, too. Jonathon is definitely a ladies man, but the lady whose capture his heart is Natalie, and their love is hotter than anything Hell can throw at them. Natalie and Jonathon’s love will conquer all evil, even some of their own.

Darker Still is a masterpiece—twisted, dark, and chillingly possessive. I definitely got my treat with this dark romantic suspense, and I highly recommend Darker Still as a must read.

 (MY THOUGHTS)     5  HEARTS!!!!!
Fate Fixed reminded me of why I love to read Paranormal. Vampires and werewolves. Bonnie Erina Wheeler has taken me back to my first love—vampires and werewolves. Wheeler’s writing and the storyline in Fate Fixed is awesome. I fell in love with all the characters. The vampires are Braden, Torin, Cian, and Teagan, and the werewolves are Maxin, Alik, and Nicolai. But in this first book of the Erris Coven Series its Torin and Lexie's story and the vampires are the good guys. And boy are they ever good. Dang these vamps are hot! And so is their romance, which is called Fate-partner, a forever love—a love that is fixed by fate for eternity. I love Fate Fixed and I'm so glad there’s going to be four more books in the Erris Coven Series.

Lexie is eighteen and she’s been having dreams of a guy for the past year after her father's death. Lexie wants her mother to be happy again. Lexie's mother meets and marries Dragos, who has three sons of his own, and wants to move Lexie and Her sister Ella and mother to Maine so they can have a new start as a family. Lexie goes along with it for her mother, even though Lexie feels something is wrong with her new step-father and brothers. This is where Lexie meets the boy of her dreams, Torin, who has also been having dreams of Lexie for the past year.

Torin is eighteen and also a Damphy. And for Damphys, they dream to know the girl who will be their fate-partner; she’s the only one who can love him for what he is. And Lexie is Torin's love for eternity. But there’s someone else who's laid claim to Lexie, and he's not going to be nice about taking what he wants.

Fate Fixed is no Twilight. Most definitely not. That’s why I love it so much. Bonnie Erina Wheeler has created an awesome story where vampires and werewolves don't play nice when it comes to the girl they love. I can't wait for next book Blood Twist. I highly recommend Fate Fixed as a must read.

Catalyst (The Passage of Hellsfire, Book 1)

Catalyst (The Passage of Hellsfire, Book 1)

For centuries, the kingdom of Alexandria has protected Northern Shala from the monstrous creatures lurking in the Wastelands. Now, a dark force threatens that fragile peace.

Far from home, Alexandria's princess is abducted. When a young villager named Hellsfire stumbles upon her and her captors, he rushes in to rescue her, alone and unarmed. His fear and fury unleash an uncontrollable magical force that grants him the power to save the princess-and change the world.

Hellsfire has never craved nor dreamed of power. But such magic as he now possesses has not been seen in Northern Shala for a thousand years, since the devastation of the War of the Wizards and the creation of the Wastelands.

Now Hellsfire must leave all he's ever known, and make a dangerous journey to learn to master this wild, ferocious power-power he knows he is not ready to wield. More difficult still, he needs to master his emotions. If he can't, the power will consume him, Alexandria will fall, and darkness will eclipse the land, destroying everyone he loves.

In the dead of cold, the spark shall burn...

(MY THOUGHTS)       3 HEARTS!!!
Catalyst is fantastic fantasy. Marc Johnson has built a fantasy world and left nothing—out kings, princess’, wizards, elves, ogres, dragons—and that's just for starts. There’s no doubt Johnson has created an amazing fantasy world in Catalyst. The main character is Hellsfire, and Catalyst is told through his POV. I had problems with Hellsfire’s character. He’s fourteen when this story starts and seventeen when this book ends, and I never see Hellsfire mature during all these years. He starts out stubborn, kind of winey, never learning to listen, and the book ends with him the same way. Hellsfire just seems to stay fourteen to me. But as far as that, that’s the only problem I had. I enjoyed reading Catalyst.

Hellsfire lives with his mother in Sedah, a small village. His father died before he was born and Hellsfire and his mother live as outcasts in this village because they’re poor. So Hellsfire is always being bullied. And it’s on one of these days that after he’s been harassed by the village bully Hellsfire runs into the woods and rescues Princess Krystal from her kidnappers. He also discovers fire comes from his body. Hellsfire tells his mother about the fire and she admits it’s time he has to leave for White Mountain because at his birth, an angel told her this. Hellsfire goes to White Mountain and learns he's called to train to become a wizard. Hellsfire will have to save Princess Krystal, who he loves, and her kingdom of Alexandria from the evil Premier and the wasteland creatures.

If you love books like Harry Potter then you are going to love Catalyst. I recommend Catalyst as a fantastic fantasy read.

Between the Sea and Sky by Jaclyn Dolamore

Between the Sea and Sky

Between the Sea and Sky

For as long as Esmerine can remember, she has longed to join her older sister, Dosinia, as a siren--the highest calling a mermaid can have. When Dosinia runs away to the mainland, Esmerine is sent to retrieve her. Using magic to transform her tail into legs, she makes her way unsteadily to the capital city. There she comes upon a friend she hasn't seen since childhood--a dashing young man named Alandare, who belongs to a winged race of people. As Esmerine and Alandare band together to search for Dosinia, they rekindle a friendship . . . and ignite the emotions for a love so great, it cannot be bound by sea, land, or air.

(MY THOUGHTS)      4 HEARTS!!!!
Between the Sea and Sky is a beautiful fairy tale with a happily ever after ending. Jaclyn Dolamore has written a love story that had me saying awww when I got to the end. Esmerine and Alander's love took me back to when fairy tales could swoon your heart and finding your prince charming was a dream. And Jaclyn Dolamore has put a fresh, new twist to fairy tales.

Esmerine is a sixteen-year-old mermaid who has just taken her siren vows to protect the sea. Her heart’s not sure about those vows as she remembers the winged boy she used to play with that promised he would return to her. When Esmerine's older sister, Dosia, leaves the sea to go to the mainland, this gives Esmerine the excuse she needs to find her winged-boy again. but the man he is now is not the boy that stole her heart four years earlier.

Alander is a Fandarsee, a winged people who live in a floating city in the sky. He hasn't forgotten about Esmerine or his promise to her, but how can a Fandarsee and a mermaid be together? He agrees to help Esmerine, to help her find her sister, and on their journey their hearts can;t deny their love for each other. And true love will always find away.

Between the Sea and Sky is a book you can curl up with and enjoy a sweet, cute fairy tale love story with the happily-ever-after ending. I recommend Between the Sea and Sky as a great read.

Dearly, Departed (Dearly #1) by Lia Habel

Dearly, Departed (Dearly, #1)

Dearly, Departed (Dearly #1)

Love can never die.Love conquers all, so they say. But can Cupid’s arrow pierce the hearts of the living and the dead—or rather, the undead? Can a proper young Victorian lady find true love in the arms of a dashing zombie?
The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria—a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune and now plans to marry her niece off for money. For Nora, no fate could be more horrible—until she’s nearly kidnapped by an army of walking corpses.
But fate is just getting started with Nora. Catapulted from her world of drawing-room civility, she’s suddenly gunning down ravenous zombies alongside mysterious black-clad commandos and confronting “The Laz,” a fatal virus that raises the dead—and hell along with them. Hardly ideal circumstances. Then Nora meets Bram Griswold, a young soldier who is brave, handsome, noble . . . and dead. But as is the case with the rest of his special undead unit, luck and modern science have enabled Bram to hold on to his mind, his manners, and his body parts. And when his bond of trust with Nora turns to tenderness, there’s no turning back. Eventually, they know, the disease will win, separating the star-crossed lovers forever. But until then, beating or not, their hearts will have what they desire.
In Dearly, Departed, romance meets walking-dead thriller, spawning a madly imaginative novel of rip-roaring adventure, spine-tingling suspense, and macabre comedy that forever redefines the concept of undying love.

(MY THOUGHTS)    5 HEARTS!!!!!
Dearly, Departed is an all-in-one Novell. Lia Habel has amazingly put Science Fiction, Steampunk, Horror, Fantasy, Dystopia, Paranormal, Apocalyptic, Historical and Romance into this incredible Novell. Along with five POVs, with the main two perspectives being from Nora and Bram.  Lia Habel definitely created a fantastic world with zombies and humans trying to coexist together.

Nora is almost seventeen and has been sent off to an all-girls school to become a proper Victorian lady after her father's death. Nora’s not interested in tea and high society. Nora's father raised her to know how fight with weapons and to think for herself. Nora becomes a wanted person by the Gray's because of her father's work as a doctor, and everything Nora thought was truth about her Victorian life will be destroyed after she discovers who her father really was and Bram will become her truth.

I really liked Nora. She is a petite and stubborn tough girl who is not scared to speak her mind and acts on what she believes in. She has just enough Victorian politeness that makes her character one I truly enjoyed. But I do have to say I love Bram more. Bram is strong and witty, with a tender heart even if it’s not beating anymore. Bram's love for Nora is so warm and intimate and one he had to find after his death, which makes it heart-breaking. I couldn't help falling for this zombie.

Dearly, Departed is definitely a novel with a fantastic storyline, action, drama, humor, romance . . . it’s like getting nine novels in one. I recommend Dearly, Departed as a must read.

(MY THOUGHTS)   5  Hearts!!!!!
Sweet Bytes is the third book in Ophelia Dawson Chronicles. Kimber An lived up to my expectations and this series keeps getting more intense with each book. Kimber An has deepened the plot with oldbloods and newbloods. Ophelia also comes to know her destiny in Sweet Bytes, along with her twin sister Bianca. Tristan is bought back in this book and I have waited to see more of him. I fell in love with him in the first book Crushed Sugar, but I got my heart broken over Tristan in Sweet Bytes. Kimber An has created fantastic world with oldbloods, newbloods, shape shifters, empaths, and even griffin knights and all the characters are awesome and well-developed. I love every one of them.

Ophelia has to face a lot of truth about who she is and what her destiny will be. Ophelia will also know the pain of losing another she loves. Even though Adrian is her soul-mate and the love of her life, Ophelia finds out you can love two at the same time and her heart will be broken. She will come to understand it’s better to of love and lose, then to never of know that love at all.

Ophelia grows up a lot in this book. She's a geek who is determined to know her destiny as a Borean empath. It's going to give her the power to protect and fight for her loved ones, and for her soul-mate, if she's ever going to be free from the newbloods and Triumvirate.

I have to give a teaser from Sweet Bytes. It was just a great line from Maya who is one of the oldblood protected: "Your own fame is spreading, Ophelia," said Maya. "The Triumvirate will soon have a price on your head so high every Malevolent wienie on the block will take a shot.”

I love the Ophelia Dawson Chronicles and Kimber An’s writing. She is an awesome author and Sweet Bytes is another fantastic book in Ophelia and Adrian's fight to be together and their fight against the Triumvirate. I highly recommend Sweet Byes as a must read.

(MY THOUGHTS)     5 Hearts!!!!!
Dangerous Designs is a cute read. Dale Mayer's has written an amazing second dimension with an evil third. Mayer brings high-tech gadgets and evil monster into this story with Storey and Eric. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. The only problem I had was with Storey’s character. No matter how I tried, I couldn't envision her as seventeen. I kept seeing her as fourteen, she just acted too immature for seventeen. But besides That one little problem Storey was great everywhere else.

Storey is an artist and she loves to draw, but when she finds a pencil which is really a stylus from another dimension, it becomes soulbound with Storey and her drawing becomes a portal to another dimension. Eric has been sent to get the stylus back before Storey causes some serious problems between the two dimensions. Before Eric can get the stylus from Storey, she opens up a third portal, one that has been locked for centuries. Eric then has to protect Storey from the councilman of his world, and Storey and Eric must try to save both their worlds.

I really liked Eric. I connected with him right away, probably because I felt sorry for the poor guy. Eric put up with Storey’s smart-ass ways and rude sarcasm and still fell in love with her. So yes, Eric had my sympathy.

Dangerous Designs is a fantastic adventure with lots of fun and a cute romance. I recommend as a great read.

The Hero Always Wins

(MY THOUGHTS)    4 Hearts!!!!
The Hero Always Wins is fantastic fantasy world. Robert Eaton has definitely created a dark, sadistic fantasy world with Knights, Warlocks, and magic. (little to dark for me) There is also a lot of great characters in this story, but the only one that I really started to connect with. And that was the main character, Darcy. But then the author did something I myself don't like (no spoilers) and it totally left me disliking Darcy, and once this happens in a story, I normally can't like the character again. So then I was left with no character that I really could connect to since Darcy is the main character and the first voice I heard in this book.

Robert Eaton definitely created a great fantasy world in The Hero Always Wins. Eaton is also a wonderful writer, and I'm not going to bash this book just because it's not for me. We all have different tastes in what we enjoy reading. When I read the description of this book, I just got the impression of something totally different and this happens, but I do love the cover.

So I will say for those of you who love really dark, sadistic reads, then this is the book for you. You are really going to enjoy and love it.

(MY THOUGHTS)    5  HEARTS!!!!!
The Vincent Boys is another awesome novel from author Abbi Glines. I first came to love Abbi Glines’ writing in her debut novel BREATHE when she sent my heart racing with the romance in her debut novel. But in The Vincent Boys, my heart was pounding. I knew Glines had a gift for writing romance, but after reading Ash, Sawyer and Beau's romance, I now know Glines has a gift for writing the steamy, too .Abbi Glines just took me back to those teenage years of feeling that swoony romance again. Oh, how I love her for that. This is why I love to read. To remember that feeling of that hot boy in school that sent chills all over you. And bad boy Beau Vincent definitely sent chills all over. I went back and read over and over a few of the scenes I fell in love with in The Vincent Boys. I just couldn't get enough of hot, bad boy Beau. The romance with Ash and Beau is soooo hot!.

Ashton is the preacher's daughter and ever since they met in preschool her best friends have been the Vincent boys, so it makes since that as they got older, that one would become Ash's boyfriend. Sawyer is the prince charming who is prefect. Beau is the bad boy who’s definitely not. Ashton being the daughter of a preacher has to pretend to be prefect. So how can Ash be in love with the bad boy Beau? Ashton has tried to please everyone and in doing that has lost herself of who she really is. Beau has always loved the true Ashton and she never had to pretend with Beau. Beau love's the fire ball Ashton and he wants her to find her true self again, but for Ashton to be who she really is, will mean she will have to destroy the guy she loves and the guy she’s in love with.

The storyline in The Vincent Boys is awesome, the romance is steamy hot. Ash and Beau's love is one that’s going to take you to swoon heaven. I highly recommend The Vincent Boys as a must read. You will not want to miss Ash, Sawyer, and Beau's heart-breaking love story.

Wolf Mark by Joseph Bruchac

Wolf Mark

Wolf Mark

Luke King knows a lot of things. Like four different ways to disarm an enemy before the attacker can take a breath. Like every detail of every book he’s ever read. And Luke knows enough—just enough—about what his father does as a black ops infiltrator to know which questions not to ask. Like why does his family move around so much?

Luke just hopes that this time his family is settled for a while. He’ll finally be able to have a normal life. He’ll be able to ask the girl he likes to take a ride with him on his motorcycle. He’ll hang out with his friends. He’ll be invisible—just as he wants.

But when his dad goes missing, Luke realizes that life will always be different for him. Suddenly he must avoid the kidnappers looking to use him as leverage against his father, while at the same time evading the attention of the school’s mysterious elite clique of Russian hipsters, who seem much too interested in Luke’s own personal secret. Faced with multiple challenges and his emerging paranormal identity, Luke must decide who to trust as he creates his own destiny.

(MY THOUGHTS)    5 Hearts!!!!!
Wolf Mark is an awesome book. Joseph Bruchac takes you into the mind of Luke, and I do mean literally takes you in the mind of Luke. This story is told from Luke's POV, but you're seeing it all through Luke's perspective, the way his dad has trained him to see the situation. Wolf Mark is total testosterone. Definitely an all guy's storyline. Bruchac does put just a splash of romance in with Luke's feelings for Meena.

Luke just wants to be brave enough to ask Meena to take a ride on his motorcycle, his second love, the Norton Commando. Luke thought he could finally have a normal boys, teenage life, but all that changes for Luke when his father gets kidnapped by Maxico. Then Luke finds himself teaming up with the Sunglass Mafia, as Luke calls them. They are a gang of seven Russians that goes to school with him at RHS. These Russian teenagers have a little secret of their own, and talk about the unlikeliest gang of teenagers that Luke could team up with to help him rescue his dad while being a werewolf skinwalker. Well . . . this would be the group.

This is where I really started to enjoy Luke's character and the storyline. Before this, it’s mainly Luke's thoughts you’re reading, and I do have to say, I like more interacting with characters and hearing their voice in books. And boy does it pick up here with the Russian's vampires. I love Luke's relationship with the Russian's vampires, especially three of them: Yuri, Vlad and the tough, sexy Marina, who definitely has the hots for wolfboy Luke. But Luke's heart belongs to Meena, pining for his daydream date with Meena on the back of his motorcycle.

Wolf Mark is a Fantastic novel full of action, an awesome storyline, and teenage boys’ first love. I fell in love Luke and definitely got my testosterone fix in this novel. I recommend Wolf Mark as a must read.

Ophelia Meets Tristan Li
 By Kimber An

Ophelia pulled the arrowed string back to her ear, focused on the gray sub-arctic sky and released.
The arrow flew high into the air above the frigid water, soaring until it descended and stuck into a small iceberg floating in the deep-blue ocean inlet.
Smoke fizzled in the snow, carrying the letter’s words to heaven.
I wasn’t informed you’re an archer.
Ophelia cinched brow and spun around.
A boy about her age stood near her little white car, hands thrust into navy coat pockets. His almond eyes were dark brown, black hair combed in a classic cut, strong jaw, full lips. Her twin sister might’ve thought him adorably handsome, but her dark mood prevented the same assessment. I didn’t mean to startle you.
"You didn’t startle me," Ophelia spoke aloud. "I was already cranky. I suppose you’re Tristan Li, my new Oldblood Protector." She’d been informed of his arrival and now here he was, a stranger sent to keep watch over her.
Yet, he seemed eerily familiar, like she already knew him; that was impossible. She couldn’t remember an Asian-American ever visiting their isolated town before.
He winced. ‘Oldblood Protector.’  You shouldn’t speak those words aloud.
She lowered her bow and pressed her foot against the inside. "I don’t like you talking inside my head."
You’re an empath. Nameless memory drifted from him and through her senses, but the source eluded her. And I’m a telepath.
"So?" Ophelia unstrung her bow and knelt to put it away.
"You need to become accustomed to it." Tristan unsettled her. "The archery set. According to my sources, you’ve never strung a bow or shot an arrow before."
"According to your sources?" She nestled the bow back in its case and lowered the lid.
He approached slowly, skin pale. His cold breath made no cloud before his lips. As your Protector, it is my duty to understand you.
"Great. Besides being a blood-sucking dead guy"—Ophelia stood, case in hands—"you’re also a snoop."

Blurb: Ophelia’s escape from Martin, an Addicted Newblood, came at a terrible sacrifice. Adrian, the boy she loves, is now infected and hunted like vermin.
As her new Protector, Tristan Li represents the Oldblood determination to destroy Adrian, along with all the Newbloods, addicted or not.
In her grief, Ophelia hates everything about Tristan, until his subtle strength empowers her to resist being turned into a vampire by the High Prefect.
As Tristan helps Ophelia harness her empathic ability, his need for redemption rings in her heart. Her own strength grows, along with her passion for freedom.
The veil of mourning lifts.
The evil of Martin returns.
Ophelia seizes ownership of her destiny.

(MY THOUGHTS)      5   STARS!!!!!
Crave set my heart on fire with this beautiful, forbidden love between Savannah and Tristan. Melissa Darnell has written a irresistible love story. Crave is a totally forbidden Paranormal  Romance to the fullest. I definitely got my romance fix. Savannah and Tristan's love doesn't come without consequences, and they're of the deadly kind. Darnell's Crave is a deliciously intoxicating romance.

Savannah is a hard-headed sixteen-year-old who has loved Tristan since fourth grade, but Tristan is a descendant of The Clann, and is forbidden to have any contact with her. Savannah's mother has been cast out by the Clann. So for six years, Tristan has not talked to Savannah even though he's loved her, too. Right before Savannah's sixteenth birthday, she gets horribly sick, and her mother finally has to tell her the truth of who and what Savannah really is. With that truth, Savannah finds out the only boy she's ever loved and will ever love is her forever forbidden.

Tristan is sixteen, and for the last six years, he's lived by the Clann's number one rule: stay away from Savannah Colbert. Tristan can't deny his love for Savannah any longer. Even when he finds out the secret about Savannah, Tristan's loves her, and is even more determined to protect her and fight for their love.

Crave is romance, romance and more romance. I love Tristan's strong conviction and commitment to his love for Savannah. Tristan never doubts or gives up. I highly recommend Crave has a must read

At age nineteen, Sean Kendrick is the returning champion. He is a young man of few words, and if he has any fears, he keeps them buried deep, where no one else can see them.

To ensure her survival and protection, she vows never to get attached, but this latest switch is different from the start. Abithica breaks all her own rules, and is left with a choice. (MY THOUGHTS)   5  STARS!!!!!
Abithica has a powerful, intense storyline that had me glued to the pages. Susan Goldsmith didn't let me stop gasping until the last page. Only then did Goldsmith say, okay, now I’ll let you breathe. Goldsmith took me on a heavenly sadistic thrill ride with nerve-wracking sharp turns. Abithica and Lane’s rollercoaster romance had me begging Susan Goldsmith to please give these two their happily ever after. Goldsmith is a fantastic at writing intense, nail-biting suspense. She had my heart racing until the end.

Abithica, who inhabits different bodies, had just landed in Sydney, and this body is going to make her break all the rules. One of the rules: don't fall in love. Well, that one just goes right out the door when she meets Lane. Abithica has been fixing problems in the lives she inhabits, but now, she’s the one who needs fixing. She longs to have her own body, and to feel love and be loved.

Lane is twenty three, and a gorgeous, sexy, fun guy.  Abithica is Lane's forever love and there’s no way he’s going to live without her. But that's the whole problem for Abithica who is in Sydney's body. Lane is in love with Sydney. Abithica is tired of this cruel joke that she has been given and she ready to take what she could never have.

Abithica is definitely intense and intriguing, with a dark, sadistic side going on. Abithica and Lane's romance is hot and heart-breaking. I recommend Abithica as a must read. The author left an opening for a second book which I hope Susan Goldsmith will write.
