It starts with an itch you just can't shake. Then comes a fever and a tickle in your throat. A few days later, you'll be blabbing your secrets and chatting with strangers like they’re old friends. Three more, and the paranoid hallucinations kick in.
And then you're dead.
When a deadly virus begins to sweep through sixteen-year-old Kaelyn’s community, the government quarantines her island—no one can leave, and no one can come back.
Those still healthy must fight for dwindling supplies, or lose all chance of survival. As everything familiar comes crashing down, Kaelyn joins forces with a former rival and discovers a new love in the midst of heartbreak. When the virus starts to rob her of friends and family, she clings to the belief that there must be a way to save the people she holds dearest.
Because how will she go on if there isn't?

Megan Crewe crafts a powerful and gripping exploration of self-preservation, first love, and hope. Poignant and dizzying, this heart-wrenching story of one girl’s bravery and unbeatable spirit will leave readers fervently awaiting the next book in this standout new series.

 (MY THOUGHTS)       5 HEARTS!!!!!
The Way We Fall is a different kind of Dystopia. Megan Crewe has created a Dystopian world on an Island. What could be more terrifying than knowing that just across is the mainland you can get food, water, medicine, but you’re not allowed to leave. Crewe took me into Kaelyn’s life which is a living hell. The author has written an awesome, chilling, heart-felt novel. I felt every bit of Kaelyn’s fear, loss and hopelessness of having no power to fight an enemy you can’t even see. Crewe is an amazing writer in the way she told Kaelyn's story of her dispirited fight of survival through a journal. This definitely made the storyline more powerful and deep for me.

Kaelyn is sixteen and very much a loner. The one friend she did have, Leo, she hasn’t spoken to for two years, after he gave her some unwanted advice on being a loner. But Kaelyn decided to take Leo’s advice after he left the Island to go to school. She wants him back as more than her friend, and that means taking him away from his girlfriend, Tessa. Kaelyn starts keeping a journal of how she’s going to change her loner life. But the journal she uses to win Leo back, will become her survival story against a virus that takes everything from her.

When she makes up her mind to change her loner ways, Kaelyn has no ideal a mysterious virus will have its own plan for changing her. Through Kaelyn’s painful suffering and loss of everything, she will gain self-worth and a friendship with the last person she’d ever want to be friend with. Kaelyn will also meet Gav. Gav will teach Kaelyn how to fight to protect herself. Through Gav, Kaelyn will understand the real meaning of love.

The Way We Fall is Kaelyn's story, told through a journal addressed to Leo of a virus that takes her world and everyone she loves, and having the strength to keep living despite the pain. I highly recommend The Way We Fall as a must read.
