           (Stories About Melissa #2)

                                                 by

Melissa has learned a lot since her freshman year began, but it isn’t over yet! Her world is about to change again with the birth of her new sibling, and she has to figure out how she will adjust to being the eldest of five kids. She, Jess, and Jimmy are inseparable, and she is having a fantastic time although she can’t help but miss Brian as she tries to learn how to deal with his relationship with Layla. Everything seems to be happening at once and that is when she is introduced to Ben Campbell, a senior at Dearborn High, who becomes an interesting distraction as he helps her deal with the new developments in her life.

(MY THOUGHTS)          5  HEARTS!!!!!
XOXOXO is the sequel novella to Ta Ta For Now! that shares fourteen-year-old Melissa’s life as she grows up through the pages of her journal. Bethany Lopez’s writing is simply beautiful. Lopez took me and my heart into Melissa's painful hurts and joy with her family, friends, and boys. I found myself smiling a lot, but not without a few tears as I was reading Melissa's life as a teen. Bethany Lopez has a beautiful gift of writing heartfelt tenderness with combining the cute fun of being a teenager.

Melissa is the oldest daughter in this family of four kids, with two sisters and a brother, and her mom is about to add one more to make five. Melissa is not too happy about this, and has sworn off having kids for herself. Melissa is also not wanting to go to school, where she will have to see Brain, the boy that broke her heart after he starting going with Layla. It only gets worse for Melissa when her mother goes into labor and her father tells her that her new baby brother, Max, is born with Down Syndrome. Melissa’s not sure if she can handle this and she becomes angry. But once she holds her baby brother and meets Ben, who’s little sister is also Down Syndrome, she starts to see things in a new light, especially when Ben is the hot, gorgeous senior who is also captain of the track team. But there’s someone else who cares very much for Melissa, She is so caught up in thinking Ben is the world's greatest guy, that Melissa just might miss that she already has the greatest guy, if only she would open her eyes and see the one who has been by her side the hold time.

XOXOXO is a wonderful story about a teenage girl growing-up with all the teens problems of today with humor, tears and romance of learning the true meaning of life lessons. I recommend XOXOXO as a beautiful read.
