"Clever fun."—Kirkus Reviews
"Incorporating suspense and romance, this contemporary, edgy, Grimm-based novel is an entertaining and well-written entry in the crowded but popular genre."—Booklist

Mirabelle's past is shrouded in secrecy, from her parents' tragic deaths to her guardians' half-truths about why she can't return to her birthplace, Beau Rivage. Desperate to see the town, Mira runs away a week before her sixteenth birthday—and discovers a world she never could have imagined.

In Beau Rivage, nothing is what it seems—the strangely pale girl with a morbid interest in apples, the obnoxious playboy who's a beast to everyone he meets, and the chivalrous guy who has a thing for damsels in distress. Here, fairy tales come to life, curses are awakened, and ancient stories are played out again and again.

But fairy tales aren't pretty things, and they don't always end in happily ever after. Mira has a role to play, a fairy tale destiny to embrace or resist. As she struggles to take control of her fate, Mira is drawn into the lives of two brothers with fairy tale curses of their own . . . brothers who share a dark secret. And she'll find that love, just like fairy tales, can have sharp edges and hidden thorns.

 (MY THOUGHTS)      5 Hearts!!!!!
This has been an incredible week for me reading wicked dark novels, and Kill Me Softly is another fantastic one. Sarah Cross has taken several of the loved Grimm Brother's fairytales and wove them together to create her own twisted, modern day dark tale. Cross has also written the most chilling happily-ever-death love triangle with the Valentine brothers and Mira. These two gorgeous, romantic guys are to die for…literally. I loved Sarah Cross’ writing and her creativity of this dark romantic fairy tale. I also loved the sarcastic humor between Blue and Mira in this story.

Mira is turning sweet sixteen in a week, and she’s never been allowed by her godmothers Elsa and Bliss to return to Beau Rivage to visit her parents burial site after they die when Mira was a baby. Mira's godmothers has forbidden Mira from doing a lot of things, like shaving her legs, using scissors, and the do not list goes on and on. Mira decides she wants to share this special birthday with her parents, as she just has to have this closeness in her life with her parents. So she runs away. When she gets to Beau Rivage, she realizes that finding where her parents is buried is going to be harder than she thought, and when Blue Valentine tells her she’s in danger of his brother, Felix, Mira feels like she just walked into a Looney Tune’s cartoon.

Blue is going to do whatever it takes to protect Mira from Felix, but how can Blue protect Mira when she doesn't want his protection. Felix and Mira are falling for each other, too. Mira is on an insane roller coaster ride with Felix and Blue and Blue's friends. Mira knows their all hiding a dark secret from her and this dark secret will become Mira's destiny and the answers she has been searching for.

Kill Me Softly is dark and dramatic, with humor that had me laughing out loud, and a wicked romance. Cross also leaves an opening for a second book, but Kill Me Softly can stand alone. I recommend Kill Me Softly as one dark read you will definitely want to have on your To-Be-Read list.

  2. I just received this from Netgalley last week and can't wait to read it.. It kind of reminds me of the tv series Once a Upon a Time with the Grimm Brother's fairytales and how it's wove together to create a twisted, modern day dark tale. Can't wait...
