Caterpillar (The Metamorphosis Trilogy, #1)

     (The Metamorphosis Trilogy #1)

In a small college town in northern California, a lonely young man is working himself to the bone to solve a sixty-year-old problem ... a stranger with a will of iron and eyes the color of ice is searching for someone he can't identify ... and a girl who loves plants is about to grow roots of her own.

When Cara Gallagher's parents are transferred overseas again, she's off to spend her senior year of high school living with her sister, a graduate student at the famed McNair University. Cara, a girl with a passion for science and an indifference to people, hopes this move will be her first step in claiming the independence she craves. Cara has her future planned down to the letter: her college, her major, her career.

Then she saves Will Mallory's life, and both of their futures are completely rewritten.

The last years of Will's life have been spent shifting from one identity to the next, dodging the FBI, and trying desperately to find a way home. But Will's home is forty-four light years away, and to reach it he'll have to outwit the man who's hunting him--and leave behind the only love he's ever known.

Caterpillar is a beautiful Sci-fi fantasy love story. Kate Oliver has a wonderful, creative mind when it comes to writing a unique storyline and heart-felt romance. Oliver also gives us an encouraging story with Cara messed up life. Caterpillar is the kind of forever love that I love to read, when two people who are hurting, lost and empty are meant to find each other to heal and complete one another…soulmates.

In two months Cara will be eighteen. Cara's dad who works for Foreign Service and has to move again overseas. Cara is allowed to live with her twenty-two year old sister Liv, who lives and goes to college in California. This is Cara’s senior year of high school, and she can't wait for it to be over. High school has not been kind to Cara, but it's just one more horrible thing on Cara's list for her dysfunctional life. The first is her parents’ bad marriage, and the second is her mother's anger and bitterness. The third was the jerk who took her fairy tale dreams life away. Cara used to believe in fairy tales, she used to believe in hers. When Cara saves Will and finds out his secret, Will becomes her knight in shining armor. She starts to believe in her happily ever after, but all fairy tales have an evil villain, and Cara and Will's is the FBI.

Cara and Will's romance is one that goes deeper than just the physical. Theirs is a forever love. Cara and Will are truly soulmates. I love the humor with Cara and Will’s romance, but it also leaves me heart-broken for these two. I’m glad that there’s going to be another book, because I don't think my heart can take it if Will can't find a way to fix his "poof problem''.

Caterpillar is romantic…beautiful romance, drama, suspense, and humor all wrapped up into a Sci-Fi storyline. Cara and Will have a very special relationship that I have to have more of. I recommend Caterpillar for all who love romance as much as I do.
