The Color of Grace
by Linda Kage
Meet sixteen-year-old Grace Indigo:
Hey. When my mother remarried after thirteen years of being a widow, I had to move to a new town and enroll in a new school. Suddenly thrust into an entirely different kind of life, I just wanted to go home. I didn’t want to meet new people, didn’t want to leave my old friends, didn’t want to become a third wheel to my mom and her husband...and I really didn’t want to see Ryder Yates again. Ugh, I still don’t know why I turned down that too-good-to-be-true boy who flirted with me when we were attending separate schools.
But honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was worse.
Who knew becoming lost in a new life could help a girl find her true colors?

(MY THOUGHTS)
The Color of Grace
is a heart-gripping love story. Linda Kage always touches my heart with laughter
and tears in her novels. Kage became one of my favorite authors when I read her
first YA Romance novel The Stillburrow
Crush. Kage is an awesome, talented
gifted writer. I'm always amazed at the way she can quickly pull me into her
story, and have me rooting for her characters from the first page. It’s like I
already know the characters and I'm already a part of their story while reading,
not on the outside looking in. And an author that can make me feel this way has
a beautiful gift, and Linda Kage is that kind of storyteller for me. She’s
definitely meant to be a writer.
You can find The Color of Grace here:
The main character Grace is a beautiful and strong girl. She’s
shy, but not weak. She’s also kind of a nerd. Grace's life is about to change big time. Grace’s
father died thirteen years before, and it’s just been her and her mom, but now her
mom is getting remarried. Grace didn't realize her mother's new marriage to
Barry would mean a new life for her, too: a new school, new friends, new town,
and a new warm feeling in her heart for a boy named Ryder Yates. Grace is also
experiencing another new feeling; paralyzing fear of her new stepfather.
Ryder is a gorgeous, green eyed, six-foot basketball jock.
He’s player number forty-two, and a rich boy who has just about everything. Everything
except for who he’d really like to be as a person, and a girl who will not even
tell him her name. I fell in love with Ryder. He had me at his great comeback
line to Grace when they first met and she told him her name was "not
interested".
Teaser: Ryder: “Hey,
where’re you going?” His voice, confused yet curious, called after me. “Hey.
Why didn’t your mother name you Maybe, or We’ll See, or What’s-Your-Number?
That way, we could call our first born Absolutely.”
Ryder definitely became my absolute, most beautiful guy
character with that hilarious great, melt-a-girls-heart comeback line.
The Color of Grace
is a standalone novel. Kage in no way leaves Grace and Ryder’s story unfinished.
She gives them a beautiful ending, but I would still love more of Grace and
Ryder and I’m asking Linda Kage to please continue their story with a New Adult
or Adult Romance novel. I highly recommend The
Color of Grace as a must read.
