                                               by

Allie lost everything the night her boyfriend, Trip, died in a horrible car accident—including her memory of the event. As their small town mourns his death, Allie is afraid to remember because doing so means delving into what she’s kept hidden for so long: the horrible reality of their abusive relationship.

When the police reopen the investigation, it casts suspicion on Allie and her best friend, Blake, especially as their budding romance raises eyebrows around town. Allie knows she must tell the truth. Can she reach deep enough to remember that night so she can finally break free? Debut writer Jennifer Shaw Wolf takes readers on an emotional ride through the murky waters of love, shame, and, ultimately, forgiveness.

(MY THOUGHTS)        5  Hearts!!!!!
Breaking Beautiful is definitely a title that's true to this story. Jennifer Shaw Wolf took my heart for an emotional roller coaster ride with three different kinds of love: love of an abuser, love of a protector, and a love of hope. Wolf has written an intense story of how the effects of abuse still controls the abused person even after the abuser is dead. Wolf had me glued to the pages of this heart-ripping mystery of what happened the night that Trip Phillips dies. Wolf's is truly a talented author, and her writing will capture your heart, while also tearing it to pieces.

It's been three weeks since Allie came home from the hospital. An accident left Allie with a head injury and no memory of the night she went to the Pacific Cliffs Cotillion dance with her boyfriend, Trip Phillips. The night that Trip died. Everyone wants Allie to remember that night, but Allie doesn't want to remember, and what she does remember, she must keep hidden like she’s done for past three years. But someone knows about Allie’s secret, and that someone has a secret of their own to hide.

I fell in love with Allie's twin brother Andrew. Andrew has cerebral palsy, brought on by a lack of oxygen when Andrew and Allie were born. Jennifer Shaw Wolf wrote a beautiful character with Andrew that reminds us that cerebral palsy affects the body, not the mind and spirit of a person.

Blake is another character I love. Blake is your bad boy/good boy, who's just gotten the short-stick in life because of what his mother did. Pacific Cliffs is one of those small towns where people live for gossip, and whatever sins your parents commit will be a life sentence for the children. Allie is Blake's hope, a hope that has been with them both since they first met each other when Allie was five and Blake was four. Blake never lost his hope in Allie, and Allie will have to find her hope in Blake.

Breaking Beautiful is an emotional, heart breaking story about spouse/girlfriend abuse, child abuse, and abuse of a town that lives to destroy others with gossip. It's about having the strength to protect the one you love when you’re weak. It's also about love that can't be broken, a love that keeps hoping, no matter how long you have to wait for that person. I recommend Breaking Beautiful as a must read.

Lies Beneath ( Lies Beneath #1) by Anne Greenwood Brown

Lies Beneath (Lies Beneath #1)

     Lies Beneath (Lies Beneath #1)

                                           by

Calder White lives in the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior, the only brother in a family of murderous mermaids. To survive, Calder and his sisters prey on humans, killing them to absorb their energy. But this summer the underwater clan targets Jason Hancock out of pure revenge. They blame Hancock for their mother's death and have been waiting a long time for him to return to his family's homestead on the lake. Hancock has a fear of water, so to lure him in, Calder sets out to seduce Hancock's daughter, Lily. Easy enough—especially as Calder has lots of practice using his irresistible good looks and charm on unsuspecting girls. Only this time Calder screws everything up: he falls for Lily—just as Lily starts to suspect that there's more to the monsters-in-the-lake legends than she ever imagined. And just as his sisters are losing patience with him.

 (MY THOUGHTS)        5  Hearts!!!!!

Lies Beneath is a wickedly dark novel that will have you reconsidering going for that swim. Just when you thought it was safe, Anne Greenwood Brown gives you Calder White and his sisters. These serial killers mermaids make Jaws look like a sweet little goldfish. Finally, Brown has gave me the sadistically dark merfolk tale I’d been waiting for. Disney can have their fun loving Ariel. Brown introduces me to the true nature of the mermaids of the deep, and they are Calder, Maris, Pavati and Tallulah. These four mermaids would love to take you for a dip in Lake Superior. They would also love to relieve you of your emotions and suck the life right out of you. Brown will definitely make your blood run cold with what lies beneath these waters. I really enjoyed that Lies Beneath is told from Calder's POV. Lately there have been a lot of guy main characters, and I am loving this. Anne Greenwood Brown has written a fantastic storyline with a beautiful, dark romance.

Calder is an eighteen year old merman, and he wants his freedom from his three sisters. Maris, who is Calder's oldest sister, tells Calder she will give him his freedom if he will help them finally get their revenge on Jason Hancock, who is the son of the man who murdered their mother. All Calder has to do is seduce Lily Hancock's, Jason Hancock's oldest daughter. Calder is fine with this. It’s not like this is anything new to his masochistic nature.

But Calder is headed for unknown waters with Lily. There's something different about this human girl, and Calder's merman power of seduction isn't working on Lily. For the first time in his life, Calder will discover the difference between lust and love, and what it means to feel joy. Calder and Lily’s romance starts on the dark side, but turns humorously sarcastic with a beautiful love. I can't wait to get more of Calder and Lily in the next book Deep Betrayal, and I have a feeling they’re headed for dangerous waters with Calder's sisters.

Lies Beneath is abso-freaking-lutely fantastic. Calder is a gorgeous merman that definitely makes me want to take a dip in the deep blue sea. I highly recommend Lies Beneath as a deliciously dark read.

                                   Oldsoul

                                                                        by
Jason Gouvas doesn’t want to believe he has special abilities or that he's an Oldsoul-- a vessel for the souls of people who have passed away, but the dead girl in his mind can be very persuasive.

Her name is Erin, and through her Jason is able to access the knowledge and skills of the souls within him. And with a group of power-hungry immortals bent on destroying the Oldsouls and overthrowing humanity, he's going to need them all.

Paperback, 323 pages
Expected publication: April 24th 2012 by Pendrell Publishing

(MY THOUGHTS)        5  Hearts!!!!!
Oldsoul is a fantastic YA Paranormal. Dan Haring has just introduced me to an awesome main character named Jason Gouvas. Haring has also created amazing world in which the Oldsouls are at war with the Athanatos. Dan Haring is a male YA author. I've been reading a lot of novels from men YA authors lately, and Dan Haring is an awesome one. I fell in love with his action-packed scenes, intense writing, and to see romance from a man’s POV… oh yeah! Dan Haring had my heart swooning for Jason's romance with Mela. Dan Haring has delivered a remarkable story with Oldsoul, and I can't wait to read more from this new impressive, talented author.

Jason is a normal eighteen year old guy who lives in Philadelphia. Well, he thought he was normal, until the Oldsoul saves his life, and then they kidnap him. Darrius, the leader of the Oldsouls, tells Jason they’ve been waiting for him for a long time. And that he’s The Ancient of Days that will win the war against the Athanatos. Jason thinks they’re crazy, and he also thinks it’s a good possibility that he's crazy, too, until he hears Erin's voice talking to him in his mind and when he develops special abilities, he can’t deny the truth of who he is any longer. But Jason has kept a few of his new abilities hidden from the Oldsouls, and the last person he ever wanted to see in his life again will be the very person he needs.

Jason has another reason to stay with the Oldsoul. And her name is Mela. Jason has it bad for Mela. I loved Jason’s beautiful feelings and thoughts for Mela. Jason is definitely a charmer. He definitely charmed me right to swoon heaven with his romantic feelings for Mela. Erin is hilarious when it comes to Jason's relationship with Mela. It’s pretty rough having another girl in your head knowing all your romantic thoughts and feelings about the girl you love.

Oldsoul is action-packed, with fantastic humor and swooning romance. Jason will do whatever it takes to save the girl he loves. I'm so looking forward to the second book in the Oldsoul series. I highly recommend Oldsoul as a must read.

Shayla Witherwood: A Half-Faerie Tale by Tamra Torero

Shayla Witherwood: A Half-Faerie Tale

       Shayla Witherwood: A Half-Faerie Tale

                                                                     by

A brief moment of disappointment washed over me as I approached Jace’s lifeless body. Here I was, about to kiss a boy on the lips for the very first time, and he was completely comatose—possibly paralyzed—and would never even know or remember the experience. This was not how I’d envisioned my first kiss—me invisible, him unconscious.

Shayla Witherwood is not exactly normal. First of all, she’s spent her entire life being homeschooled, traveling in an RV around the country with her grandparents. And second, there’s the kind of inescapable fact that her mom was a genuine faerie.

But now that she’s starting a real life in a regular high school, Shayla desperately needs to stay out of trouble in both worlds because even her faerie powers might not be enough to protect her from what’s coming.

In her latest novel, Tamra Torero spins a magical tale filled with laugh-out-loud sarcasm, surprising twists, and spell-binding romance. Perfect for fairytale fans of all ages, this is one story you won’t want to miss!

(MY THOUGHTS)    4 Hearts!!!!
Shayla Witherwood: A Half-Faerie Tale is cute and fun with a dark ending. Tamra Torero threw me for a dark surprise with the twisted ending in this sweet fairy tale. Torero also sets a storyline with the popular and unpopular clique groups that teens in high school are into, and how Shayla has the strength to resist this peer pressure. Tamra Torero writes about serious issues with teens, but she didn't hold back on the fun part of being a teenager. There are lots of laughs with all the characters and sweet first love romance. Torero ended this novel with a satisfied ending, but she did leave a small opening where there could be another book.

Shayla is a sixteen year old homeschooler who's not too sure she’s ready to face Jasper Jenkins public high school. But when Mr. Jock Quarterback, Jace, starts liking Shayla, she thinks she could start to like public school just fine. Where there's a jock, there's also a cheerleader. Bree is the cheerleader queen who doesn't like Shayla taking her Jace and Shayla finds out not everyone plays nice. Shayla is trying to keep her half-faerie identity a secret, but this is getting a little complicated for Shayla when her human world and her faerie world collide. Shayla will have to stand strong in her own strength of who she knows she is and who she wants to be to fight in both worlds.

Shayla and Jace’s first love is the sweet and cute kind, with Jace wanting to be Shayla’s strong protector. Jace might be strong on the outside with that beautiful quarterback body, but Shayla will become his inner strength and show Jace it’s all right to be who you really want to be.

Shayla Witherwood: A Half-Faerie Tale is cute, fun, sarcastic, and has a sweet romance. It also touches on some of today’s serious teen issues. I recommend this as a wonderful, young adult read.

Red Heart Tattoo by Lurlene McDaniel

Red Heart Tattoo

                 Red Heart Tattoo

                                                 by

At 7:45 a.m. on the day before Thanksgiving break, a bomb goes off at Edison High. Nine people die instantly. Fifteen are critically injured. Twenty-two suffer less severe injuries. And one is blinded. Those who survive, struggle to cope with the loss and destruction. All must find new meaning for their lives as a result of something they may never understand.

Lurlene McDaniel's signature expertise and finesse in dealing with issues of violence, death, and physical as well as emotional trauma in the lives of teens is immediate and heartrending.

From the Hardcover edition.
Hardcover, 224 pages
Expected publication: July 24th 2012 by Random House Children's Books

(MY THOUGHTS)      5 Hearts!!!!!
Red Heart Tattoo ripped my heart to pieces. Lurlene McDaniel has a gift for writing heart-stopping storylines. I definitely knew I had a heart because it was breaking for these six teenagers. Red Heart Tattoo is told from five POV’s with the main prospective coming from Morgan. All the characters in this story will steal your heart. Lurlene McDaniel has taken high school drama to its darkest emotional level. I'm sitting here writing this review through tears. After reading this novel, it will take me a few days to get my own emotions together again. McDaniel is an awesome writer who takes readers deep into the teen world of jealousy, hate, violence and death. But McDaniel also shows you the hope, forgiveness, healing, love and the strength to survive.

Morgan is a senior who has everything going for her: excellent grades, student council president, and her boyfriend Trent is a soccer star. Morgan and Trent are in the elite group along with her best girlfriend Kelli, who’s the lead cheerleader and Kelli's jock star football quarterback, Mark. Everything comes easy for this elite group. But nothing comes easy for the loner group, and this is the group Roth is in. He's a badass with tattoos and face piercing's, but still Roth wants what he knows he can't have. Roth has wanted Morgan ever since sixth grade, and this is his last chance to get what he wants. So to hell with the consequences. There is one more group, the losers, who sit back and watch all the groups. And with their jealousy and hate, they want to get even with the other groups.

At 7:45 a bomb goes off. This will change everything in the lives of these groups at Edison High School. Careers will be destroyed, bad situations that seemed hopeless will be given away out, and love that had no chance will get its chance. But for some, tomorrow will never come.

Red Heart Tattoo will pull at your heartstrings. I never do spoilers, but there’s a scene where Roth said the most beautiful words, and I just have to share: He lowered her onto the pillows, leaned down and kissed her closed eyes. "I'll take whatever you want to give me, he said. "Nothing more." The ending in Red Heart Tattoo was very different and definitely a surprising one. I highly recommend Red Heart Tattoo as a must read.

Transcendence by C.J. Omololu

Transcendence

                   Transcendence

                                                   by

Love isn’t the only emotion to survive death . . .

When a visit to the Tower of London triggers an overwhelmingly real vision of a beheading that occurred centuries before, Cole Ryan fears she is losing her mind. A mysterious boy, Griffon Hall, comes to her aid, but the intensity of their immediate connection seems to open the floodgate of memories even wider.

As their feelings grow, Griffon reveals their common bond as members of the Akhet—an elite group of people who can remember past lives and use their collected wisdom for the good of the world. But not all Akhet are altruistic, and a rogue is after Cole to avenge their shared past. Now in extreme danger, Cole must piece together clues from many lifetimes. What she finds could ruin her chance at a future with Griffon, but risking his love may be the only way to save them both.

Full of danger, romance, and intrigue, Transcendence breathes new life into a perpetually fascinating question: What would you do with another life to live?

Hardcover, 336 pages
Expected publication: June 5th 2012 by Walker & Company

(MY THOUGHTS)
Transcendence is an intriguing novel about having a second chance to right the wrongs in your life. C.J. Omololu has written a fascinating storyline that pulled me into this secretive world of the Akhets and wouldn't let go. Akhets are a select few who can remember their past lives. They are reincarnated because they have a responsibility to destiny to change their and other’s mistakes, and to set destiny right again. But there is some who just want revenge. The rogue Akhets are those who seek only revenge for the wrong done to them. They could care less about making destiny right. I also love the way C.J.Omololu has Cole, a new Akhets, having glimpses of her two past lives in this novel. One she will set right with her destiny and the other she will face in the next book, Continuation, which I am so wanting to read right now. I love the love triangle that's coming in the next book with Cole, but this is a totally different kind when one guy is your husband from the 1500's and the other guy is your executioner. Oh yes, Continuation is going to be just as fantastic as Transcendence, I'll definitely be waiting for this next book .

Cole is having a lot of deja vu lately. When she starts getting visions of people and places in history, she didn't know exist, she thinks she’s going crazy until she meets Griffon, who tells her she an Akhet. Cole as an Akhet will have to figure out the mystery of what went wrong in her past life to correct the wrong that was done, but the one she’s trusting to help her also has a dark secret past he's hiding from Cole, and it could cost her her life and life of the one she loves. Griffon is a Iawi Akhet. Which means he can remember all his past lives, unlike Cole, who only sees glimpses of hers. Destiny has bought Cole and Griffon together again, but will love be there destiny or will history repeat Griffon's dark past?

Transcendence is an enthralling mystery that had me putting together clues right along with Cole. Griffon and Cole’s romance is a dark and dangers one, of two truths and a lie. I recommend Transcendence as a must read that will have you asking yourself what would you do if you could have another life to live?

 (MY THOUGHTS)         5  Hearts!!!!!
Tomorrow Land is an incredible, fantastic novel. Mari Mancusi has penned an awesome story with first love, the end of the world, grotesque zombies, and a kick-ass heroine. And that's just the tip of this marvelous storyline. Peyton and Chase are wonderful characters. I fell in love with these two on the first page, and it just keeps getting better with the heart-swooning romance between Peyton and Chase. Tomorrow Land is mostly told in Peyton’s POV with a few chapters told in Chase’s POV, and Mancusi does an excellent job at showing you what happens between Peyton and Chase before and during the oncoming apocalypse. I love Mari Mancusi’s writing, and definitely will be reading more novels by this author.

Peyton and her mother went into a fallout shelter at the start of the apocalypse. Now after spending four years locked up, the doors unlock, and her mother dies on the same day. Peyton enters this dystopia world not knowing if she’s the only one left, but hoping that the boy she fell in love with at fifteen survived the last four years. Peyton is nineteen now, and she’s on a mission to save the world or what's left of it. She needs to find her father. Payton's father has turned her into razor girl. Payton is the only hope for saving the human race and the last human outpost on earth.

Chase can't believe after four years Peyton, the girl he loved and still loves, just walks up to him. Chase is not the same boy Peyton knew four years ago, and after the choice she made which broke his heart, it might just be too late. Chase has found something else to replace Peyton. Peyton might be back to save the world, but can she save Chase, the only guy she loves? And the hard question she must ask herself is does she even want to try?

Tomorrow Land has everything that makes a novel awesome: humor, action, romance, and characters that capture your heart. After reading the last page, I agree with Peyton, I sure as hell won't be going to Disney World. I recommend Tomorrow Land as a must read.

Peculiars by Maureen Doyle McQuerry

The Peculiars

                                                               by

This dark and thrilling adventure, with an unforgettable heroine, will captivate fans of steampunk, fantasy, and romance.
On her 18th birthday, Lena Mattacascar decides to search for her father, who disappeared into the northern wilderness of Scree when Lena was young. Scree is inhabited by Peculiars, people whose unusual characteristics make them unacceptable to modern society. Lena wonders if her father is the source of her own extraordinary characteristics and if she, too, is Peculiar. On the train she meets a young librarian, Jimson Quiggley, who is traveling to a town on the edge of Scree to work in the home and library of the inventor Mr. Beasley. The train is stopped by men being chased by the handsome young marshal Thomas Saltre. (MY THOUGHTS)       5  Hearts!!!!!
The Peculiars is a unique novel. It’s a Steampunk with dark mystery, suspense, and romance. Also, its main character is a goblinism, which is a totally new kind of paranormal character for me. Maureen Doyle McQuerry has written a fresh, new storyline about goblins, which is new for me I haven’t read about goblins myself. I also like that McQuerry wrote this as a Steampunk, and that she didn't go heavy on all the gadgets. The Peculiars takes place in the time around the 1880's. I enjoyed the historical element that McQuerry brought into this storyline. I love the main character, Lena, along with Jimson. Lena is strong-minded and she will have to learn to think before she acts, which McQuerry does an excellent job of showing Lena learning this through the story. Jimson, I fell in love with. He's funny and gentle, but strong. Jimson is not scared to stand up for his beliefs or the people he cares for. Maureen Doyle McQuerry has written an amazing new Paranormal with goblins and created an incredible paranormal/historical/steampunk world.

Lena has just turned eighteen, and her mother gives her a letter from her father who left them when Lena was five years old. But in his letter, he gives Lena her inheritance and a deed to his family’s mine in Scree. She decides to go to Scree to find out about her father's history, to see if he was a goblin. She’s always been told by her mother that her oversized hands and feet are just a birth defect, but she has to find out if she’s a Peculiar. Peculiars are not thought to be human by the government and human society, but are believed to be creatures with no souls, and the government is trying to take the Peculiars’ freedom away so that they can't live among the humans.

On the train ride to Knob Knoster, where Lena will hire a guide so she can cross the Knob Knoster border into Scree, she meets Jimson Quiggley. Jimson is on his own adventure to Knob Knoster where he will work for Mr. Tobias Beasley as his librarian. When Jimson meets Lena on the train, you just know he’s already lost his heart to her, but there’s a little problem back home with a girl named Pansy. Jimson's father has already arranged a marriage for Jimson to marry Pansy. I love the romance with Jimson and Lena. These two keep trying to hide their feelings for each other, though I think it was very clear how Jimson feels for Lena. I can't wait till the next book to see more of Lena and Jimson's romance. It just finally did get started at the end of this first book, and this story ends with a very touching scene between them.

Peculiars is a fantastic and intriguing dark adventure about Lena, a goblin girl who’s coming to understand who she is, and the fight she will have to faces for her rights as a Peculiars and the rights of all Peculiars. I recommend Peculiars as a fresh new adventure in YA Paranormal.

 (MY THOUGHTS)       5  Hearts!!!!!
Emerald City has nothing to do with Dorothy or ruby slippers. It’s a heart-wrenching love story about forbidden love. A love that a man will sacrifice heaven and fight hell just to hold the woman he loves. Alicia K. Leppert went beyond the typical Paranormal Romance. She wrote an emotional, heart-melting love story with Olivia and Jude's forbidden love—a love that will not be denied. Leppert writes incredible, heart-stopping romance. My heart is still in awe of the tender, intimate way Jude loves Olivia. Alicia K. Leppert thank you for Olivia and Jude's beautiful story and thank you for a breathtaking, forbidden love story.

Olivia Tate is tired. She’s tired of living a life of emptiness, a life that has taken everybody she loves. Olivia is tired of the sleepless nights full of night terrors. She wants just one night of peaceful, painless sleep, and she intends to find one in a bottle of Valium. But when Olivia wakes, it’s not where she thought it would be, and her rescuer is the last person she’d ever think would be saving her life.

Jude has an assignment to do. An assignment he will not finish, at least not the way those who sent Jude on this mission of mercy would like. Jude's name means he's a lost cause, but when he saves Olivia, she’ll become his life's cause—and he’ll sacrifice everything to have a heart that beats only for Olivia.

Olivia and Jude’s love is a forbidden one. Jude came to save Olivia's life and will now have to lose his own. Emerald City is a beautiful novel about two people who will not be denied love. I love forbidden romance stories, and Emerald City is definitely a love story I recommend as a must read.

Torn by Stephanie Guerra

Torn

                         Torn

                                             by

Stella Chavez is your classic good girl: straight As, clean-cut boyfriends, and soccer trophies . You’d never guess that Stella’s dad was a drug addict who walked out when she was a kid. Or that inside, Stella wishes for something more.

New girl Ruby Caroline seems like Stella’s polar opposite: cursing, smoking, and teetering in sky-high heels . But with Ruby, Stella gets a taste of another world—a world in which parents act like roommates, college men are way more interesting than high school boys, and there is nothing that shouldn’t be tried once.

It’s not long before Stella finds herself torn: between the best friend she’s ever had and the friends she’s known forever, between her family and her own independence, between who she was and who she wants to be.

But Ruby has a darker side, a side she doesn’t show anyone—not even Stella. As Stella watches her friend slowly unravel, she will have to search deep inside herself for the strength to be a true friend, even if it means committing the ultimate betrayal.

(MY THOUGHTS)      5  HEARTS!!!!!
Torn is a Contemporary about two girls in their last year of high school who become friends even though they’re total opposites of each other. But they do have one thing in common, though. Both their loser dads left them when they were very young. But where Stella has a mom with strong faith and a love to put her children first, Ruby’s step-mother only focuses on her next boyfriend. Stephanie Guerra has written a beautiful story about unconditional love in friendship, and how far one girl will go to save her friend. Guerra is a wonderful writer; her way of writing pulled me in and kept me flipping the pages with this intriguing storyline.

Stella is simply sitting in English class, and in walks the new girl, Ruby, with her mid-drift, high heels and her loud, obnoxious attitude. Stella can't keep her eyes off this wild girl. She’s everything Stella’s not. But this is what draws these two girls together. Soon Stella is in so deep to Ruby’s wild ways that she will either have to abandon Ruby or commit to doing what it takes to help save her.

Stella gains from this friendship, too, though. It’s not just one sided. Stella is a stable, good girl, but not too great at voicing her opinion or standing up to others. It’s easier for Stella to keep her mouth shut. But even this good girl can learn from Ruby—the wild girl. I loved this scene where Ruby stands up for herself against the whole school in the lunch room. Sometimes a girl has to do what a girl has to do in order to shut the bullies up. And believe me, Ruby is a girl after my own heart in this scene.

Torn is beautiful story that made me cheer for Stella and Ruby. It makes you realize that no matter what you don’t have, and no matter what this ugly world throws at you to take you down, it’s clear that two is better than one when dealing with it. And when you have that one friend who believes in you and knows that your worth fighting for, you will have a friend who will be standing by your side forever. I recommend Torn as a wonderful read.

                                                                  by

Obsessed with MUSE, the clandestine project that created the AI in his brain, mercenary chief Durango draws the ire of the government when he steals part of the secret project data and hightails it with his lieutenant, Vienne, to an ancient monastery. There, he meets the monks who raised Vienne from an orphan and also encounters soldiers working for his old nemesis, the crime lord Mr. Lyme. Lyme controls the territory surrounding the monastery, as well as the datacenters housing the rest of MUSE.

Undeterred, Durango and Vienne pull off an ill-advised raid on Lyme’s complex. During the ensuing battle, however, Vienne is captured, and Durango is beaten and left for dead. Now, wounded and shaken, Durango must overcome bounty hunters, treacherous terrain, a full scale civil war, and a warrior monk with an eye for vengeance (not to mention his own guilt, self-doubt, and broken arm) to find Vienne and free her from Archibald, a brain-washing pyromaniac with a Napoleon complex who wants to rule Mars--and kill Durango in the process.

 (MY THOUGHTS)      5 Hearts!!!!!
Invisible Sun is an action-packed roller coaster ride, with lots of humor and cute romance. I have been reading a lot of Young Adult novels written by men lately, and I'm loving the way they write. David Macinnis Gill’s Black Hole Sun series is super fantastic. David Macinnis Gill had me holding on to my chair while reading this adventurerous wild ride, and laughing all the way to the end. But I will say that David Macinnis Gill did put some tender, heartfelt moments into this story, and I found a few tears rolling down my cheeks. I loved the main character, Durango. He's like a Halo Master Chief/Indian Jones. Oh yeah, Durango is a wild ride and Vienne is the perfect girl to put a little fear in this macho guy. David Macinnis Gill also created an amazing storyline along with a incredible Dystopia world.

Durango and Vienne are disgraced Regulator Mercenary soldiers who are also known as Dalit. They do dirty, dangerous jobs for little pay. Durango is a mission to steal the data of project MUSE before Lyme, the notorious crime lord of Mars, can get his hands on it. But Durango has come to a crossroad in is life, and if he makes the wrong choice, he might not be able to live with consequences of his decision. And the person whose life will pay for the price of his pride.

There are two other characters that I fell in love with. One is Mini, who’s an Artificial Intelligence, who's like a computer inside Durango's head. She’s definitely the comic relief side kick, and had me laughing. There’s nothing like having a sarcastic, smart mouthed woman in a guy’s head to deflate his ego. Then there is Riki-Tiki, who’s a six year old kick-butt, head strong little girl. She’s a monk who thinks and acts like a twenty year old. Riki-Tiki’s character gave me lots of laughs, but she’s also the one that had me shedding the tears.

There was never a dull moment in Invisible Sun with its action-packed storyline, also with plenty of humor and romance. This is one I definitely recommend as a fantastic read.

Cover Reveal & Excerpt: My Super Sweet 16th Century by Rachel Harris

                                                 Cover Reveal:

My Super Sweet 16th Century by Rachel Harris

On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore.

Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

                                                   Excerpt:

Alessandra jerks back like I just suggested she prance around the square naked or something. “No! I believe I understand your meaning, and Lorenzo is certainly not my suitor. He is like a brother to me—the three of us grew up together.”
She resumes walking and I fall in step beside her, understanding there has to be more to the story. And as we near the end of the row, I finally ask, “If you’re not into the guy, then what’s the problem?”
At that same moment, a rich, deep chuckle hits my ears. My stomach involuntarily clenches and my gaze sharpens on the back of this mysterious Lorenzo.
Alessandra sighs. “That is the problem.” She places her hand on my arm and solemnly looks me in the eyes. “You must be careful. Lorenzo is beautiful, and it is not uncommon for a girl to walk away from meeting him with a piece of her heart left behind. But he is just eighteen, and not yet ready for marriage.”
I roll my eyes and laugh, then realize she’s serious. “Yeah, I assure you, there’s no danger on my end. I’m not exactly looking for marriage myself.” Because that would be crazy-town.
Alessandra wrinkles her nose as if she doesn’t believe me, but she removes her hand. We close the distance and Cipriano flashes me an open, honest to goodness, lighthearted smile.
“Lorenzo, this is the cousin I was telling you about.”
Slowly the guy turns and I fall head first into the richest chocolate-brown eyes I’ve ever seen. He blinks and long, luscious lashes feather across his bronzed cheeks. I can feel myself gawking, but I physically can’t drag my eyes away. Lorenzo doesn’t smirk or act all conceited, either. He simply stares back, his eyes casually skimming over me, causing my skin to warm and break out in a whole body tingle.
Time seems to stop, and the sounds of the market mute. Alessandra was right. This boy is beautiful.
And he’s looking at me.

But something dark and hungry is using Emma and Brendan's deepest fears to reveal damaging secrets and destroy their trust in each other. And Emma's crash course in ├╝ber-spells may not be enough to keep them safe…or to stop an inhuman force bent on making their unsuspected power its own.

(MY THOUGHTS)         5  HEARTS!!!!!
Cara Lynn Shultz has definitely delivered an awesome sequel to Spellbound with Spellcaster. I loved the first novel Spellbound and Shultz has just blown me away with eternal soul mates Emma and Brendan, and the rest of the characters at Vincent Academy. Spellcaster was a wonderful surprise. Cara Lynn Shultz didn't hold back on showing today's true-to-life teens--the raw language and romance--and I love that. I also love Brendan, and I have to say thank you to Cara Lynn Shultz for taking me into Brendan's life and showing who this bad boy with a good heart really is.

Emma and Brendan have been happy soul mates for the last four months after Brendan risked his life to save Emma from the psychopath Anthony. But these two still have enemies who have been waiting for revenge, and this time it's Brendan's past that comes back to bite the playboy. Emma will be the one to pay for Brenden's love 'em and leave 'em life style. Brendan will not be Emma's white knight this time around. This is a girl thing, or in Emma's case, a witch thing.

Brendan puts their romance to the test as he always has taken what girls gave up so easily. Brendan is learning what he has truly lost by being the Stud King of Vincent Academy. He can't change his past, but the way Brendan opens his heart to show his love for Emma in trying to prove to her she's not just another notch on his bedpost, is swoon-worthy romance, and I love the way Emma handles this situation with Brendan.

Spellcaster is Emma's time for saving Brendan and their love, because there is an dark evil that hates Emma and Brendan's true love. I highly recommend Spellcaster as a must read.
