         Indigo Awakening (The Hunted #1)

Because of what you are, the Believers will hunt you down.

Voices told Lucas Darby to run. Voices no one else can hear. He’s warned his sister not to look for him, but Rayne refuses to let her troubled brother vanish on the streets of LA. In her desperate search, she meets Gabriel Stewart, a runaway with mysterious powers and far too many secrets. Rayne can’t explain her crazy need to trust the strange yet compelling boy—to touch him—to protect him even though he scares her.

A fanatical church secretly hunts psychic kids—gifted “Indigo” teens feared to be the next evolution of mankind—for reasons only “the Believers” know. Now Rayne’s only hope is Gabe, who is haunted by an awakening power—a force darker than either of them imagine—that could doom them all.

Indigo Awakening is a mind blowing Urban Fantasy/Sci-fi/Paranormal. Jordan Dane became one of my favorite authors after I read In the Arms of a Stone Angels and On a Dark Wing. Dane's dark, eerie style of writing won me as a reader and definitely gives me a few chills. Going into Indigo Awakening, I was expecting it to be similar to her other stories, where the main focus is on two characters and their relationship. But this story involved many characters. Five teenagers, two pre-teens, and a child. They’re known as the Indigo kids because of their psychic gifts which sent a few chills up my spine. Gabriel (Gabe) and Rafe are 18, Rayne (she’s not a Indigo) and Kendra are 17, Lucas (Luke) is 15, the twins known as the Effin brothers (love that name) are 12, and then Benny (whose nick name is little man) is 10. I love all these kids, and loved this story being told through multiple POV’s I enjoyed Dane giving me insight into so many of the characters. Though majority of the story is told from Gabe, Rayne, Rafe, Kendra, and Lucas’s POV. There are also evil villains who are called the Believers who are after the Indigo kids. And believe me; I do not like these people. Dane creates very believable evil bad guys. I'm so glad this is a series because I want more.

Lucas escapes the Believer-operated mental hospital after he discovers he’s going to be put into ward 8. No one ever comes back from ward 8.  After leaves the hospital, he keeps hearing a girl’s voice in his head telling him he will be safe with her. So Lucas decides to try and find this mysterious girl.

Kendra is the leader of the Indigo kids who live underground in abandoned railroad tunnels. Rafe and Kendra take care of the younger kids while trying to hide from the Believers. I fell in love with Rafe. The way he cares for these kids and Kendra, especially Kendra. Rafe has feelings for her, and I can’t wait to get more of Rafe and Kendre relationship in the next book to see how this goes. I also love Rafe's relationship with Benny, but what happens at the end of this book broke my heart for them.

Rayne is Lucas's sister, and she’s trying to find Lucas after he escaped. Rayne meets Gabe, who has been hiding from the Believers, too. Gabe offers to help Rayne find her brother. I fell in love with Gabe and Rayne’s romance.

Indigo Awakening is an amazing dark sci-fi thriller filled with sick evil villains, teens with awesome powers, and heart-throbbing romance. I recommend Indigo Awakening as another must read from the awesome author Jordan Dane who always sends those creepy chills up my spine.

My Favorite Quotes!

"My name's Gabe Stewart."
"Gabe as in the angel?"
"Not even close." He grinned, giving her something else to like.

She closed her eyes to savor everything - the taste of his lips, the weight of his body pressed against her and the way he made her feel.

"What happened? You can tell me." He held the kid and covered his own misery with Benny's sobbing gasps. "I pissed my new pants," the kid choked out.

  1. Love this review, Debbie. I adore that you love Rafael as much as I do. And the quotes you picked made me smile. I'm crazy on deadline with book #2. We had to change the title to Crystal Fire. It seems that Crystal Storm is a porn queen or stripper.

Thanks for being on the tour & for reading all my books. You're a triple scoop of awesome.

    1. Thank you so much Jordan! I'm so glad you liked the review! And yes I love Rafael, but I have to tell you I fell in love with Lucas and Gabe too. I'm laughing like crazy about the porn queen thing, but I love the new title Crystal Fire! It sound right, because of who Gabe is!! I can't wait to read book #2! I so need to know if Rayne and Rafe is going to happen, but I also love Lucas too! Thank you Jordan for giving me as a reader AWESOME books and characters to love! :)

    2. On this tour I posted about the love triangle of Rafe Kendra and Lucas, my thoughts on it. I love complications to explore in my writing too. Keeps it interesting for me too. I have to "feel" the story unfold as my characters share their stories with me.

Rafael is so broken and deserves to be happy. Lucas needs to discover who he is after being in a hospital for years, and Rayne & Gabriel are such a strong couple. Gabriel is amazing.

I introduce another dark boy, Oliver Blue. WOW! Do I love my dark brooding bad boys. Stay tuned for Crystal Fire.

Dr Fiona will be very very bad.

    3. Jordan, I have to tell you it was really hard for me to choose between Rafeael and Lucas with Kendra, even though I love Lucas so much, I would love to see Rafael and Kendra together! LOL! Oops!, I see in my comment above I wrote Rayne and Rafe. I meant Rafe and Kendra. Yep, I agree Gabriel and Rayne and made for each other! Their romance is definitely getting HOT!I also love that you are bring another dark brooding bad boy into the story! Dang, I can't wait for Crystal Fire! :)

    4. P.S. I love the name Oliver Blue! My grandson's name is Blue! :)

    5. That name was a MUST. He is scary cool.

Great name for your grandson. :)
