The Holders (The Holders #1) by Julianna Scott
17-year-old Becca spent her whole life protecting her
brother from, well, everything. The abandonment of their father, the so called
'experts' who insist that voices in his head are unnatural and must be dealt
with, and the constant threat of being taken away to some hospital and studied
like an animal.
When two representatives appear claiming to have the answers
to Ryland's perceived problem, Becca doesn't buy it for one second. That is
until they seem to know things about Ryland and about Becca and Ryland's
family, that forces Becca to concede that there may be more to these
people than meets the eye.
Though still highly skeptical, Becca agrees to do
what's best for Ryland. What they find at St. Brigid's is a world beyond their
imagination. Little by little they piece together the information of their
family's heritage, their estranged Father, and the legend of the
Holder race that decrees Ryland is the one they've been waiting for.
She meets Alex, a Holder who is fiercely loyal to their
race, and for some reason, Becca and Ryland. There's an attraction between
Becca and Alex that can't be denied, but destiny gets in the way, and they are
all in for a surprise that will change what they thought they knew about
themselves and their kind forever.
THE HOLDERS is a modern day fantasy about incredible powers
and extraordinary people.

(MY THOUGHTS)
The Holders
is total awesomeness. The characters are wonderful. This storyline is
fantastic. The romance is heart-melting. Julianna Scott is an awesome writer
and storyteller. I fell in love with this story. Becca is my kind of strong
heroine. Alex is definitely my kind sensuous, sexy lead guy, and I adore
him. Scott has penned an incredible story about a human race that has
supernatural abilities. But Scott absolutely touched my heart with the
beautiful romance between Becca and Alex. Alex is a just melt-your-heart-swoon
worthy guy—the way he talks, touches and loves Becca—he made my heart skip a
few beats. The scene between Becca and Alex at the end of this novel had me in
romance heaven; their words of love and trust to each other had my heart
swooning.
Becca is seventeen and hell bent on protecting her
little brother Ryland, keeping him away from all the people who would like to
have him committed to an institution for hearing voices. But she never expected
her deadbeat dad to send two of his guys from Ireland to take Ryland away from
her. One of her dad's guys, Alex, tells her that Ryland is not crazy, that he
is what known as a special race called the Holders. Becca starts to trust this
twenty-two year old with beautiful eyes, but there's no way she’s letting her
little brother go to Ireland without her. Becca thought she was going to
Ireland to change her brother's life. She had no idea her life was going to get
a supernatural makeover along with her falling in love with Alex.
The Holders intriguing
storyline had me glued to the pages, this unique race from Ireland with
their special mind powers, and Becca and Alex’s beautiful romance, I’m
definitely ready for the sequel. I highly recommend The Holders as a
must read!

"Right," I chuckled under my breath. I had the feeling
that Chloe wouldn't have cared if I was a two-headed murderer straight out of
prison, as long as I was under thirty and had boobs.
"You are meant for someone else."
"No," I beamed, hoping he would see the truth in my
eyes. "I'm meant for you." Before he could draw breath to argue with
me, I pulled his face in to mine and kissed him.
"Don't worry, I'm sure you'll piss me off sooner or
later," he said with a chuckle.
"I look forward to it," I laughed.
Without willing it to, my mind went back to the night in my room
when he'd come so close to kissing me. He hadn't tried anything like that
since, but that didn't mean that I couldn't, right? It would have been easy,
all I had to do was lean forward a tiny bit. Should I? Did I really have the
balls to--?
And if he had read my mind, no matter what he'd seen, he was the
one in the wrong, so either way I was good. Besides, if I came to find out that
he'd read my mind, the conversation wouldn't get all that far anyway, because
I'd be kicking his ass.
Author Bio: Julianna was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and spent the
majority of her educational career convinced she would be a musician. However,
after receiving her music degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, she
realized that she'd been born in the wrong era for her dreams of singing jazz
to adoring fans clad in zoot-suits and flapper dresses to come true, and began
to wonder if her true calling might be elsewhere.
While Julianna had always excelled in writing throughout
school, she'd never considered it a career possibility until about three years
ago, when she'd gotten her first story idea and decided to go for it. She
grabbed her laptop, started typing away, and has never looked back. Author Links: Website | Twitter | Pinterest | Goodreads
