What do you do when you fall in love with your best friend’s boyfriend?

That is the question that twenty-six year-old Justine Sterling has been asking herself ever since the day she met David Whitman, her best friend Renee’s boyfriend. Justine is determined to ignore her growing feelings for the irresistibly charming David, until one night, when she finds herself in the bed of the one person she should stay away from.

When Justine and David’s affair ends in heartbreak, Justine is forced to repair the damaged friendship with her best friend. In doing so, she learns that right and wrong decisions aren’t always black and white, and sometimes you have to follow your heart to see where it leads.

                                                                                    MY THOUGHTS

This is the first book I have ever read where the story goes beyond a romantic relationship between a woman and man. Justine's story is also about her relationship between her best friend, Renee. And Justine growing into her own independence as a secure woman and being proud of discovering her true self.

To be honest, I had trouble with Justine's character, and it took a lot for me to get into Justine's character to not dislike her and be judgmental toward her with my own beliefs. But I had to put who I am as a woman aside and see how the author wanted me to see Justine. Justine is a good person, but she is a weak, insecure woman through most of this story. And with the bad choices she made and her jealousies toward her best friend, Renee, she’s really had some problems. But I did love seeing her grow into a strong character from an insecure, weak woman, to become the strong woman I can admire and be proud of by the end of this book.

There is one scene that really got to me. Between Justine and David (Renee's boyfriend), where they see each other at a bar. It really had me upset with Justine and I was mentally yelling: Well, Justine, just lay down and become his doormat so he can really smear the BS in your face. Yep, I was blowing hot steam from my ears on that scene.

I did like Renee’s character, and have to hand it to Renee for not killing Justine and David. But I think Renee had already figured out what kind a scum David was and knew it wouldn't be long till Justine would feel the effects of being one of David's toys. Like I said, this story is about Justine growing up and becoming a beautiful, mature woman in her mind and body.

Love Bites is a fantastic read and it's so much more than just a romance of finding the right guy who will love and respected you. It's love and respect between best friends. And also about Justine time to grow up to become a strong person that she can respect and love herself. I highly recommend Love Bites as a beautiful, heart touching best friend read.
