What happens when you pray for death and you’re ignored?
You have to live.
You have to survive.
But what if the last thing you want is to take your next breath?
To the world, Ryan is a hero, an ex-marine, brother, son and protector. He has devoted his life to keeping others safe. He will do anything and everything to ensure his loved ones are protected, even if that means destroying his very own soul. After an explosion on the battlefield ends his career in the Marine’s, Ryan is sent home with an honorable discharge. But the war hasn’t ended for him.
He is home, he is free and he’s breathing, but he’s dead inside.
He wants nothing more than peace, but the nightmares in his mind will not grant him that. They taunt him, tease him and torture his waking moments. The darkness within him is slowly consuming him, blackness has seeped into his veins and is rotting his core. Ryan is a man on the edge of destruction. For once he is the one in need of saving. He needs a saviour.
He needs her.
Ryan is commissioned as a bodyguard to Aloura Cavendish. When he initially meets her, he believes her to be a spoiled rich brat, wasting his time. But the fire inside her astounds him. When he pushes, he never expects her to push back. When he runs, she chases. For the first time in his life, Ryan has a protector willing to fight his demons. The only problem – he is too afraid to release them.
Oh, how I've been waiting to read Ryan's story ever since I met him in book two, which is Lou and Johan's story, Surviving Love. Ryan is a big, beautiful, ex-marine, but he is a shell of a man. I knew Ryan's story was going to be a hard one for me to read because it was going to rip my heart out. I had glimpses of the pain, the hurt, the ugly that lives inside of Ryan from the other two books before. But now, to see and feel Ryan's pain and abuse, the betrayal that's destroyed this beautiful man, makes me heartbroken and in tears for him. Ryan is one of those book characters that has become real to me; he will be a part of my heart forever.
Ryan Dermont is home after his discharge from the marine's, and is now working with his brother at Will's security business. And the job Will needs Ryan to do is to be Aloura Cavendish's bodyguard after she has received threats on her life. Ryan, being the alpha male that he is, isn't too happy about being a babysitter for some rich princess and becoming her lap dog. Boy, does Ryan have his new client, Aloura, all wrong. Aloura is a loner—she’s independent and strong-willed, and she doesn't like Ryan being her babysitter any more than he does.
I love Aloura. This woman is just what Ryan needs. Aloura can see the broken and the ugly that's inside Ryan, but she can also see the raw, beautiful man Ryan is. Aloura is committed to Ryan whether he wants her or not, and Aloura is going to push Ryan till she can get past his stone cold walls. Ryan has never had a person like Aloura in his life before. A person that proves her trust to him, a trust he needs to heal him. No matter how hard Ryan tries to push Aloura away and the hurtful words he spews at Aloura, Aloura is not going to run from the monster that lives in Ryan.
Ryan and Aloura are beautiful together. Their romance is hot. Their love will melt and touch your heart. I highly recommend Silent Scars, Ryan's heartbreaking story and Aloura’s, the woman who had the heart, the strength and the love to face Ryan's ugly monster as a must, must read.
5 Hearts of Love for Ryan & Aloura
Hi! What to say about myself...I love to read, and create stories for others to enjoy. I've always been told I have a vivid imagination, I just lacked the confidence to pursue putting it onto the written page. But finally I embarked on making a single dream come true.
I love to read, and write. I only read romance, any genre really, but it has to have a beautiful romance. I also demand a HEA, even if it takes two or three books to get there. Reality is too broken and jaded without having to live through the trauma and angst in a book for it to end unhappily.
