PARTNERS . . . FRIENDS . . .
Forensic anthropologist Victoria Palmer has always been better with the dead than the living. Shutting down her emotions, she lets few people in. But then Victoria’s latest investigation takes her and agent Wade Monroe to Savannah, Georgia. Handsome, dangerous, and more than ready to play dirty on any case, Wade weakens Victoria’s aloofness with just one glance.
. . . LOVERS
Wade knows their recent cases have pushed Victoria beyond her limits. But her skills are crucial to finding a college student who went missing five years ago. Victoria is able to determine she was murdered, and that the killer is still on the loose.
And when the vicious murderer targets Victoria, Wade must do everything in his power to protect her . . . because he refuses to let a woman he loves be torn from him . . . again.

Torn reminds me of Criminal Minds, but so much better. Cynthia Eden one upped the T.V. show by adding a steamy romance between the two main characters. And instead of profiling serial killers, the LOST team investigate and try to find people who have vanished. I have only three regrets after reading Torn, and that’s that I haven't read the first three books in the Lost series. I will be correcting that very soon. Torn is an awesome story and the characters, Victoria and Wade, are deliciously swoon-worthy. Victoria is a forensic anthropologist, and when it comes to profiling the dead, Victoria is the best. Wade is an ex-homicide detective who is the best at following leads. Both work for LOST (The Last Option Search Team). Gade, the ex-SEAL (who is Wade’s best friend) is the mastermind who started LOST. It’s a team that helps people find their loved ones after they’ve vanished when the police can’t, or the missing person’s case goes cold. The LOST team is who you call when it's your last hope. Now that you got the basic understanding of what the LOST Team do, lets get to Victoria and Wade's romance; partners who become friends and then lovers.
Victoria had horrible childhood, with a father who took her mother away from her as a child and promised Victoria she would be next. Victoria believed her father’s lies, so the only way she knew how to keep from becoming like her father was to keep her distance from people. That means there’s no way she’ll ever fall in love. Love to Victoria is the root of all evil. But Wade knows Victoria has secrets and he wants to know them, along with being with the beautiful woman he loves and wants. Victoria knows to keep the sexy, ex-cop as far away from her as possible. Wade is trouble—handsome, dangerous trouble that puts her on edge. The man makes her feel where she’d become numb.
Wade knows Victoria has secrets, but he also sees the pain in her eyes and he wants to know those secrets that hurt her and causes her pain, the pain he wants to take from her. So when Gade partners Victoria and Wade together on a case to find a college student that’s been missing for five years, Wade is ready to have his chance to be get close to Victoria. He just didn't think that the woman he’s been wanting to give his heart to would make him an offer of “partners with benefits” only.
Wade and Victoria's romance is sexy, fun with their arrangement, but it's also a beautiful, touch-your-heart love. Torn is a fantastic, intense suspense crime story with steamy romance. I loved every minute of Wade and Victoria's hot romance and their professional skills to solve the mystery of the missing and catch the bad guy. I highly recommend it as a must read, but also recommend that you read the first three books before Torn.
5 Hearts of LOVE for Wade & Victoria
