If she has her way…

Willa Davis is wrangling puppies when Keane Winters stalks into her pet shop with frustration in his chocolate-brown eyes and a pink bedazzled cat carrier in his hand. He needs a kitty sitter, stat. But the last thing Willa needs is to rescue a guy who doesn’t even remember her…

…He’ll get nothing but coal in his stocking.

Saddled with his great-aunt’s Feline from Hell, Keane is desperate to leave her in someone else’s capable hands. But in spite of the fact that he’s sure he’s never seen the drop-dead gorgeous pet shop owner before, she seems to be mad at him…

Unless he tempers “naughty” with a special kind of nice…

Willa can’t deny that Keane’s changed since high school: he’s less arrogant, for one thing—but he doesn’t even remember her. How can she trust him not to break her heart again? It’s time to throw a coin in the fountain, make a Christmas wish–and let the mistletoe do its work…

                                                                                                EXCERPT
He stilled a beat and then set the carrier down again and leaned in close to her. With one hand on the headrest at the back of her head and the other on the seat at her opposite hip, he caged her in, his face an inch from hers.
                Smiling.
The ass. He was temptation personified and he knew it. And also, he smelled good. She had no idea how he’d managed to work all day long doing what he did and still smell amazing, but he did. She closed her eyes, making herself sit still instead of doing as she wanted—which would’ve been smushing her face into the crook of his neck and inhaling him like she was a third grader with a bottle of glue.
“You want to come upstairs, Willa?” he asked, voice pure sex.
What she wanted was to put her hands back on his chest now that she knew it was as hard as it looked. Instead she gripped either side of her seat with white knuckles. “Of course not.”
“I think you do. I think you want something else too.”
“What I want,” she said as coolly as she could, “is dinner as promised.”
                “Liar,” he chided softly.
“Well that’s just rude, calling your date a liar.”
“So it is a date.” His tone was very male and very smug. It should’ve pissed her off but instead it did something hot and erotic to her insides.
Clearly knowing it, he smiled at her and then dragged his teeth over his lower lip as he contemplated her.
Gah. She wanted to do that. And she wanted to do more too. She wanted him shockingly badly and suddenly she couldn’t remember why she shouldn’t. She tried to access her though processes on the subject but her brain hiccupped and froze. Which surely was the only reason she let go of the death grip on her seat, slid her fingers into his hair, and…brushed her mouth over his.
He didn’t move, not a single muscle, but when she pulled back, his eyes had gone dark as night, piercing her with their intensity.
“Don’t read that the wrong way,” she whispered.
“Is there a wrong way to take it when a beautiful woman kisses you?”

                                                                                      (My Thoughts)

Jill Shalvis has once again given me and readers a beautiful love story filled with hilarious humor and break-your-heart romance. The Trouble with Mistletoe is book two in the Heartbreaker Bay companion series, and this is Willa's story and her chance to make a wish at the fountain of love. But when Keane Winters walks through the door of Willa's pet shop, she can't help but feel love is playing a cruel joke on her, again. Keane was Willa's first crush back in high school, and he was also her first heartbreak. Willa questions if she’d only taken her vow of “man-time-out” back in high school with Keane, it would have saved her a lot of future heartaches. Plus Keane stood her up on prom night and he doesn't even remember who Willa is. Oh, yeah. Love can be cruel.

Willa Davis has had a hard life. Willa was one of the lost girls in the foster care system, until it spit her out at eighteen. Willa is twenty-seven now, and it's not hard to understand why she has a thick wall around herself and love is not a trust-worthy word in her vocabulary. So when Keane Winters, the gorgeous jock from her past who was the cause of the worst years of her high school life, walks into her pet store and asks Willa to save him from his sick aunt's cat-from-hell, Willa wants to tell him where he can stick it—but she can't turn her back on the cat. Willa might be having love trouble with two-legged creatures, but the four-legged ones still have her heart. And just maybe she’ll get a little bit even with drop-dead-gorgeous Keane. She might be on a Man-Time-Out, but she’s not on a One-Night-Stand-Out. Willa's second time around with Keane will have her discover who the real man is, seeing past the self-centered boy in high school. But will love be enough for Willa to trust?

The Heartbreaker Bay series has so many amazing characters that I have come to love, and they have all become their own family. Willa and Keane's love story is a beautiful romance that had me rooting for these two lost souls to find love and their happily-ever-after in each other. The next couple to get their wish for love is Elle and Archer, and yes, I’ve been waiting for these stubborn two to get together. The Trouble with Mistletoe is another must read in Jill Shalvis Heartbreaker Bay series.
