About Holding Out for a Hero

He wasn’t looking for love...

Two years after the death of his wife, Sergeant Blake Kline is still hurting. He isn’t ready to date, but whenever he stops by his local diner and sees the friendly smile of his favorite waitress, he feels a spark of true happiness again. And when her life is unexpectedly threatened, Blake discovers his feelings for her might not be as platonic as he thought.

She was holding out for the hero of her dreams...

Bookworm Hannah York has always been a hopeless romantic—preferring book boyfriends to blind dates—and she’s been day-dreaming about Blake since the moment he came into her diner. She’s convinced they’ll never be more than friends... until Blake kisses her and “weak in the knees” becomes more than just a line from her favorite romance novel. The closer Blake and Hannah get, however, the harder he fights to keep her at a distance.

But forever has a way of sneaking up on you...

When their blossoming relationship takes a complicated turn, Blake will have to face his past… or risk losing Hannah forever.

                                                                      (My Thoughts)

I’ve been waiting for Blake's story since I began reading the Men In Uniform series. Blake and Hannah's story is another winner when it comes to these gorgeous military guys that have started the Alpha Dog Training Program. I knew Blake's story was going to be a tearjerker. In the first two books reader find out that Blake's wife, Jenny, had died, and Blake's pain in last two books was tangible. I was so ready for him to find love again to heal his broken heart. And Hannah the romantic was definitely the strong woman who could take on this stubborn, hardheaded soldier and show Blake how his heart can desire to love and be loved again.

Blake is in a hard place in his life after the loss of his wife two years ago. Jenny was his first and only love and the only woman he had ever been with. Blake just can't seem to move on, to let go of Jenny, but now that he has met the waitress with the beautiful smile that brightens his day, he finds himself going to the diner every morning just to see if he can make Hannah smile. Hannah is the first woman in two years that stirred feelings and life in Blake, but the guilt that he's betraying Jenny holds him back from giving his whole heart to Hannah.

Hannah didn't believe that any men could make her feel like the ones in her romance books. But now her dream man is real, Blake gives her those tingly feelings and makes her swoon. Hannah wants Blake to know that he can love again, that it's okay to love, but as long as Blake feels like he's being unfaithful to a woman that’s no longer here, Hannah knows she will never have all of Blake's heart—and Hannah can't be with Blake that way.

Blake's story is an emotional read that had me crying for this broke man and feeling his pain. But I also felt Blake's love and happiness when Hannah came into his life. Blake and Hannah's love story is simply a beautiful must read.

About the Author
From the time I could put a Disney Book cassette into my little stereo, and read along, books have held a fantastic distraction. When I was eleven, I decided I wanted to be one of those magical people that brought stories to life. Devouring a book a day sometimes, my first romance novel stuck with me. I've always been a sucker for a happy ending (and the great romantic gesture)and that's what I try to put into my stories. I am so honored to be a part of Avon, and am so excited to have my own dreams coming true.
